Be cautious before buying Diablo from Jannetty Racing!

Post by Silver2011 »

Having read all the good about Jannetty Racing I purchased a new inTune from Ted at Jannetty Racing in January for my 2011 5.3 A6 Silverado Chevy truck. I knew that transmission support was not available at the time but would be at some point later. For the time being I told Ted I would be satisfied with an engine tune that would give me a little extra horsepower. Diablo advertises 20/25 hp. Ted said 10/15 would probably be more accurate. Even 10/15 would be good.

The tune that came with the inTune caused some very serious WOT shifting issues with my tranny. Ted found one of the timing advance tables to be in error. He was able to fix that but with even less hp than my stock tune file.

I tested a couple more of his tunes but the results were less power each time. After having been a test mule for him with poor results I asked for a full refund. I felt at this point I wasn't going to waste anymore of my time and fuel testing. He then recommended an SCT tuner. SCT does not advertise that the factory warranty will remain intact so I elected for a refund.

Diablo offers a 30 day full refund if not happy. Perhaps this should apply to all of Diablo's distributors. Particularly the ones like Jannetty Racing that do not know how to tune a particular vehicle. Ted only offered me a partial refund as he did not have to abide with the Diablo's policy.

Now I'm out $101.35 not to mention my time, fuel and shipping to get the inTune back to him. And yes, he did spend a lot of time trying but without success. If he was not able to give me the power promised I feel I should have gotten a full refund.

"He did not have to abide with Diablos policy"? He sure as hell does. Don't know who the hell he thinks he is, but all distributors have to abide by their policy. Did you call DiabloSport? If not, do it Monday. See if you can get ahold of Dan Dolan. Dan's the regional manager and deals with the distributors. If Jannetty has a problem following Diablosports policies then I have no doubt that they'll have no problem pulling his distributorship. Let him try to push the garbage brands like SCT. They're more inline with him anyway.

If he pulled this shit with me I'd be at his door the next morning to knock the crap out of him.

FYI: When I was looking for somebody to tune my V, quite a few people told me to avoid him, saying he has no idea what he's doing. Needless to say, if he's got no idea, he's not going anywhere near my $70k car.

The OP stated in another topic that the people who ripped him off, Jannetty Racing would not give him a full refund. It was said by DS in that same topic that "all of our distributors are aware of our return policy", not much of a help but ok.
This is the kind of shit that gives these tuners a bad rep. You get someone who is claiming to be able to do tunes and they screw up your vehicle because in reality, they don't have a clue. Why can't DS make people who want to tune vehicles with their product actually take a class and pass before they start messing with someones vehicle? Makes sense to me, would also look better for DS if the people they deal with actually know how to use their product......

OP, keep us updated on how this works out for ya.

And I get this email from him. How unprofessional!

"This coming form a guy who works out of his bedroom in his Moms House in his boxer shorts playing with himself, LOL"

He's being an immature child. Just hit him with a charge back if he won't refund you and he won't cooperate. He's giving a full refund, whether he likes it or not. Its just a matter of how far you need to go to get it.

I did not know PayPal had dispute capability. Never had a problem with anybody else in the past 10 years since using PayPal. Thanks Mike!

You know, you have a neat product with the inTune but just sell to the wrong people based on that disgraceful email he sent me. I would still like to have one were I assured it would give my truck more power.

Why didn't you cut that same loss, keep the inTune and have Lew tune it? Also, I have had zero problems with the canned 87 tune. Where you running a higher octane tune? Hopefully this gets straightened out for you.

I paid extra to Jannetty for a custom tune. I wasn't going to pay double particularly when tranny support isn't available.

I placed a dispute claim with PayPal. We'll see how that works. At this point it not the money anymore but the principle.
