tune for 2009 Ram 1500 with CAI??

Post by badbrad »

I have had the 87 oct tune installed on my '09 Ram 1500 for a while now. I just curious, I see people say they are running a CAI 89 or 91 oct tune. I have a CAI on my truck, is there a way to adjust something specifically for a CAI? Or am I just missing something? Thanks

The Rams have no CAI tunes. They don't need it. The stock airbox flows plenty for them, so CAIs are just for sound. No tune changes are needed. The Hemi cars have CAI tunes because their airboxes suck and a CAI actually outflows them.

i bought a CAI after i installed my trinity and my truck uses more gas now, a trip down houston used to be a 1/4 of gas back and fourth but now more than half a tank doing tha same thing. should i change the WOT tune on it? its on 93 oct tune.

You're probably getting on the pedal more to hear the CAI. Thats the only possible way its using twice as much gas. A CAI should be making the motor more efficient, not less.

well this is my 3rd truck with cai and a tuner so im not excited and shittn chickens to have it installed on my truck to be excited to go heavy on the pedal more. im driving like normal and everyone is saying its kinda off. should i get an aftermarket sensor? even my co worker i car pool with is like damn wtf is going on with it. i tweaked the throttle response and rpm before i had a cai and it was using less gas even in high rpm situations, i updated my trinity but did not tweak anything after the cai , now im actually trynna use the ECO option that the RAM Hemi engine has. same results. it has me still pondering about what i should tweak on the tune. any suggestions?
