Any knowledge of aftermarket vacuum cutouts?

Post by Mike_Levy »

Exhaust cutouts. Kinda like the electric ones, but vacuum operation so they open under load like the GM Dual stage exhausts on the Vette and ZL1 or the Dynomax V series mufflers.

Any idea if they exist? Any way it can be programmed into the PCM to open the electric ones under load?

Should I "invent" them and apply for a patent (my last patent failed miserably)?

Cool, thats close, but I want to be able to stick it on a normal cutout, like the QTPs, so I can keep my stock mufflers. That way during normal driving, its quiet and torquey, but when I want to run, they'll open and the backpressure and sound deadening will be gone.

I think I'll send them an email or call them and see what they can do though. Maybe they can figure something out.

I believe dyno max now has exactly what you are talking about...

DynoMax Valve Technology Mufflers feature an exclusive, precisely calibrated internal valve that redirects exhaust flow, during cruising conditions, to provide Drone-Free Performanceâ„¢. Hammer the gas and the valve automatically adjusts for maximum exhaust flow, delivering on-demand performance and a deep, throaty drone-free sound.

I know about the Dynomax mufflers, but I don't want mufflers. I'm having cutouts put on in front of the stockers, so I just need a way to open and close them. The electric ones will work fine, but I'm looking for something a little more automatic.

Changing the mufflers is not an option at this point. I use the V to take my parents to the doctors, and having a loud exhaust won't work.

gotchya...

I dont think you'll like the way it sounds with no mufflers though, kinda rough IMO for a caddy ;)

I'd swing for the electric cutouts, cause if its vacuum and you have to give it some throttle in front of a cop for some reason, its going to get load ;)
