this particular issue is clearly something that DCX changed in the PCM, as it was not there prior to going to this new calid...

no go with the grounding method Mike...still lags in 4th 5th and 6th, but everywhere else is perfectly fine...i dont get it. after searching online, it sounds like lots of people have complained to chrysler about this after getting their car flashed at the dealership and all they can say is that "its normal". sounds like they truly dont care about the performance oriented customers...

thanks for chiming in though, it was worth a shot!

I have a 2010 SRT-8 Challenger I just ordered a Trinity tuner for. Right now I'm not having any throttle lag, and after reading all this and looking things up on other Forums I'm Paranoid about using it. The last thing I want is to update my controller and add a problem like this. Is there any way to use the Trinity and avoid loading the new firmware with the throttle lag issue?

So far I've had the opposite experience. My Challenger (2009 R/T 6 speed) has had the lag since new. It seems to be most severe in 4th gear at around 40 mph. Mentioned it to the dealer a couple of times when it was in for other things. Got told that there were no codes and they couldn't duplicate the problem, so nothing is wrong. Probably sounds familiar to most people on here, huh? ;-) . I just put the 91 CAI tune in from an intune yesterday with the throttle boost set to 10. I've only driven it a couple of times since the tune, but so far not a hint of throttle lag. I love the way the throttle reacts now too. I'll have to drive it more to see if it's really gone, but so far so good.

That's good to hear Mike. I have a Friend who's a Tech at a local Dodge Dealership and does most of their problem jobs having to do with engine control systems. I asked him about this issue and he has not seen it. He did say that they really don't sell a lot of SRT-8's though. This guy would be honest to me so I'm wondering if maybe it isn't a really big problem but happens due to a combination of conditions and looks like a big deal because of a large cluster of people on the Forums who own these cars. My Trinity should be here tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what happens when I load the tune files.

Mike L,

I have an 09 Challenger SRT with a Kenne Bell on it. The last time my car saw a Dodge dealer was 2009. I never got the "Drivability Improvement" update.

My car runs fantastic and I don't want to take any chance of this happening to me.

I have a Predator, but would like to change to the Trinity because I want to run it's A/F R gauge and Boost gauge.

If I bought a new Trinity from you, would it be possible for you to load the old software that would match my car, so I don't have to update my car?

Mike/Jon,

I wanted to follow-up on this old thread. As background, several months ago I had the CalID on my 2009 Challenger R/T updated from 05187899AE to 05187899AG. I finally grounded the throttle body (as suggested by another member), but I'm still experiencing the throttle lag in gears 4-6.

Any chance you guys will be adding inTune support for the old 05187899AE CalID? Since Dodge hasn't offered a solution, this would be a huge help.

Thanks...

Mike

I still have throttle lag. I bought a 7135 that will not downgrade to r23 09.crom , and it will not fix the problem.

Can I send it to you at you at Diablosport and get it set to the AE Cal ID?

How much???? I have visa. Or just send me an older unit, i will send you my newer one for exchange.

Im tired of this throttle lag. I don't care how it is done..... I just want my car back.

Thx Rick

I wanted to bump this one back up again. I was hopeful that some of these new tuning options that have opened up might have allowed this issue to be resolved.

I've had my PCM flashed back to gone back to 05187899ae and use the Predator for tune loads until this can be resolved. Since I am unable to use the Trinity to load tunes due to this throttle issue, I am not getting my money's worth from the Trinity. $500 is expensive for just a data logger. I purchased it thinking it would be an all in one solution for loading tunes and data logging. I swap to a 109 octane tune at the drag strip, then back to 93 octane for the street and need this ability in the hand held I'm using.

Any updates or hope for us customers experiencing this throttle problems on the later CALIDs?
-Speedy
