2007 300 SRT8 6.1 R18
CA CAR. RUNNING 91 OCT.INSTALLED PERF TUNE 93 W/NO PROBLEMS. SEEMS BETTER AT LOW END BUT WEAKER THAN STOCK AT 60MPH/80MPH. ANY IDEAS?

You're getting knock on the midrange and top end. Get that back to the 91 tune before you blow something up.

Mike is correct. If you are running 91 octane, run the 91 Octane CAI tune. It will run much better.

Thanks much. A few more questions..can you suggest an additive to get the octane to atleast 93? can the predator really raise the shift points on an 07 SRT8? B&G claims their tune yields 50 HP. do you belive it's that good? If i'm ruming 170 degrees, is that to cool?Thanks in advance.

Octane boosters are useless. They never do what they claim to. If you want a higher octane, you'll have to do your own mixing. Back when I had the GTP I played around with boosting octane using Toulene. Works good, buts expensive. Not worth it. Just use the 91 tune.
B&Gs claim is way too high. No way they can possibly make 50hp on a mail order tune, at least not safely. Dyno tuned, maybe. I'm not even sure about that, since CMR tunes for these cars are generally in the 40hp area for a really good one.
170 should be fine. Make sure you get the oil temps up higher though. A little birdy told me that these motors have a tendancy to get water in the oil that needs to be boiled out, which is supposedly why the fan turn on temps are so high. I can't confirm or disprove it.

Thanks Mike. How about the shift points? Can the predator change the points on a 2007 srt8? I've read forum postings that state both yes and no! Also, I've heard a spacer plate is worth the money. True?

Yes shift points can be raised on any SRT8.

Are you talking about a Throttle body spacer? I've heard both ways. Some claim that they made power with it, some say they lost power. Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on it. I have never seen a gain with a spacer on a fuel injected motor. On the other hand, intake mani spacers do seems to do some good on the 6.1. The manifold heat soaks badly, so using the spacers to separate the mani from the rest of the motors does seem to help. In your case though, if its only running at around 170, theres no gain to be had. In most cases, the motor runs at around 197-205 during normal driving.
Shift Points
Thanks again Mike. On the shift points, does this apply only to wot conditions or can I raise the shift points for normal casual driving? Any comments about "tornadoes" (the stainless steel inserts for the air intake that are supposed to "swirl" the air)?

The Tornado is absolute trash. You can make your own out of a soda can. Don't know why you'd want to though since it doesn't do anything. Several vendors have even dynoed power losses from it, which makes sense since its blocking the airflow.
