2010 Dodge Charger 3.5L - Modifying Diablo Tune for CAI + TB

Post by st4rdust »

I've been using the Diablo tune on my 2010 Charger 3.5L and it's been great. My car is stock, so the only paramater that I adjusted in the Diablo tune was the throttle boost - I added 20%.

My next modification will be the intake system - I will be adding an R2C CAI and a 71mm ported throttle body.

What I'm wondering is that, with the engine pulling in much more, and much cooler air, how can I adjust the Diablo tune in order to fully take advantage of the new intake system? Which parameters are ideal to adjust for maximizing performance from an aftermarket intake setup?

Its not pulling in much more or much cooler air. A motor can only use a certain amount of air. By enlarging the throttle body all you're doing is decreasing the air velocity. You aren't actually increasing the air amount at all because the motors air requirement hasn't increased. Only way to increase the motors air requirement is to increase displacement, rpm, or cam it to change the length of time the valves are open and how far they're open. Same thing with an intake, the same amount of air is coming in, its just less restricted. And with a lot of intakes out there, it won't actually be cooler then stock.

My mistake for wording that post wrongly. So are you saying that after adding a larger, ported throttle body and an R2C cold air intake, there is no need to adjust the Diablo tune (or any tune that the car may be set at) because the engine is practically unchanged?

Pretty much, yeah, theres no changes necessary. Does the u7136 have CAI tunes? If it does you can just use one of those. If it doesn't, that means that the motor doesn't lean out with an intake and no changes are necessary.

I'm not familiar with the U7136. I've been posting on this board ever since I bought the inTune which I've been using with the Diablo tune, although I know the U7136 has a Predator tune with similar attributes. I'm not sure offhand if there is a 93 octane CAI tune on the inTune.

Right, u7136 is the Predator that supports the 3.5. It has the same tunes as the inTune does.
