Suggestions...

Post by dodgeboy »

As a relatively new Diablo user on my 06 300C SRT8, I have a few suggestions for future programmer features/behavior:

1) Don't make it turn on the wipers and headlights when writing the file to the PCM. I swear I've gone through a set of wipers just from tuning my car when it wasn't raining outside. I find it amusing that the manual specifically says to disconnect your gauges and anything else that could be drawing power when writing the tune to the PCM... then the first thing the diablo does is light up the lights and turn on the wipers. My voltage drops about .6V just because of those two things alone.

2) Allow real time data viewing without logging. This would allow you to view the data in real time for an unlimited amount of time. No more "Log Full" errors right when you're ready to look at the display to get numbers.

Other than those two things, I couldn't be happier. This is by far the most advanced and capable handheld tuner I've ever used. Bravo, DiabloSport! Thanks for giving us 6.1L guys the ability to tune our engines with the stock PCM.

Option for a more aggressive down shift would be greatness!

Why in the world would you want that? My 07 already smokes the crap out of the tires on downshifts. Anything below 50mph and it downshifts, it will spin the tires. :(

Mine spins the tires because it doesn't downshift until I really step on the gas. Then it hammers the lower gear and kicks the tires loose. I don't consider this a problem with the Diablo, though. It was like that stock. Since the Diablo can't control the TCM, it's unlikely we'll be able to resolve this...

Yeah, it was like that stock, but the extra power sure didn't help.

One thing I would definetly like to see, if they can figure out how to get into the TCM, is the ability to keep the converter locked in all gears but first (like the Lexus IS-F). That would give a direct power shot, a whole lot less slip, and instant response. Unfortunetly, it doesn't look good.

Because that's what I am trying to avoid (the wot down shift and tire smoking) every time I want to accelerate! I just would like it if it had a steeper down shift ramp so it would down shift with out having to almost floor it my girl gets a geek-ed at me.

Besides i don't drive my car around constantly flooring it everywhere it's about part throttle response.

But this is a suggestions thread and that was my .02.

That is something you will have to take up with Dodge. The same thing happens when you use a dealer tool to flash the vehicle. If we had control of that then of course we would turn it off.

That's good to know... Thanks for the info. What a ridiculous thing for them to do! I can think of about 100 better ways to have a status that the PCM is being written to! :)

For the wiper issue, it only happens on vehicles with the rain sensing wipers. Set the stalk setting to "0" before programming and they will not come on.
Lights will come on, nothing we can do about that one.

The lights come on because it creates a consistent power draw that helps keep the voltage more stable.
