Process for loading custom tune after KB canned tune?

Post by ViperGeek »

This has been asked in slightly different ways by deathpulse:

http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... ic&t=38812
http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... ic&t=38813

but I want to get this right the first time.

Back when I first started developing the need for speed, I purchased a U7135 Predator to wake up my 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8's 6.1L HEMI. I was incredibly impressed how the 93 CAI tune woke up my HEMI, but then I caught the performance upgrade sickness and needed more.

Enter a polished Kenne Bell 2.8L supercharger, which as many of you know comes with a crippled KB7135 Predator used to load a hard-coded canned KB tune. Not awesome, but functional and fine.

Now I'm at Stage III in my horsepower quest and have a Diablosport-authorized tuner willing to give me a custom tune. Before they load this new, improved tune, what should I load, unload, or restore from either the U7135 or KB7135 Predator? Before supercharging, I restored the factory tune and reset my U7135 like a good boy. Should I do the same thing with the KB7135? If, for some reason, the custom tune has problems, can I go back to the canned Kenne Bell tune with the KB7135?

A step-by-step, idiot-proof recommendation would be greatly appreciated, and possibly serve as a guide for future horsepower junkies.

Thanks!

Your custom tune will be put into the KB tool, so yes, you can always go back to the canned KB tune. All you would have to do is set the vehicle back to stock, (which will delete the custom tune) or go to options, custom tunes and delete it there.

THANKS FRANK! You put my mind at ease just in time. My ECU is going "under the knife" (custom tune) this Tuesday. I assume the guys wielding the CMR tool know how to save off the appropriate tune file(s), but wanted word from the experts before possibly painting myself into a corner.
