Using my u7146 w/98 gt auto

Well I got my u7146 used off a board and now would like to start messing around with it a little. I have used other more in depth tuners in the past (like DHP powertuner), but I had knock sensors and a wide band to help with tuning. Since I have a PI swapped mustang my compression ratio is about 10.4:1. I've been told that I cannot run the 93 octane tune, which is understandable. However I would like to change other things like shift firmness etc. I want to know what's safe as far as pressures for shift firmness both at part throttle and WOT. Of course you cannot guarantee it'll be safe, but where is everyone setting theirs at? And torque modulation, that to me sounds like gm's torque management, correct? What's everyone setting theirs at there? With the rear o2's taken off, do I only have to turn off "o2 configure" and the heaters?

Well from reading about this on here it seems that there really isn't an "unsafe" place to put the TM and shift firmness at. It's just a preference of how hard you want it to shift correct?

Yeah, pretty much... the 4R70W automatic transmission is very strong and can take the abuse, but it will probably lower the total life of the tranny. If you take care of it and change the fluids at the factory recommended mileage then it will last very long... a tranny cooler helps a lot too, especially on hot days, racing and long trips. I have beat the crap out of my 4R70W for almost 100,000 miles and it's still solid without one problem. Just don't put the shift firmness at half throttle to full strength.. it will slam into the gears way too hard. Just do max shift firmness at WOT. Also, the Torque Modulation ability of the tuner does not seem to work on our 98 vehicles... it actually messes up the shifting really badly and doesn't seem to let the car out of 1st gear... another advertised feature that doesn't work on the U7146!
