By your name I assume you have a hemi based vehicle. Try this thread for what PIDS to log for a custom CMR tune.

You can find a CMR tuner at this link:

Use other gas, not Shell, also get a catch can if you already don't have one. That may help.

Quality of gas will cause ST KR, LT KR, and every other kind of KR. So will oil in the intake manifold, which all Hemis get. Thats what a catch can is for, to catch the oil before it ends up in the manifold.

No there are numerous things that could cause it. Anything that causes preignition or alters how the spark ignites can cause knock. Cleaners, carbon, oil, lots of stuff.

Experimentation is the only way to figure it out. Throw in a bottle of NOS Race Formula booster. Thats the only booster that does anything. If it doesn't reduce the knock then its not the gas. Its something else. May even be false.

what do you mean false? it just seems like its losing power when it does that

does location of oil catch can matter?

False knock is when the computer sees knock and cuts timing, but theres really no knock. Any metal on metal contact can cause false knock, like a rattling exhaust or anything similar.

The catch can should be plumbed into your PCV line. Where you mount it doesn't matter.
Check your breather line between the valve cover and intake tube too. Sometimes oil can be pulled through there. I had to run 2 catch cans on my Jeep SRT8 because it was literally sucking the oil out of the valve cover through that line.
