MPG tune for a road trip

Post by jljbtm »

Tonight I installed the MPG tune for a trip from the 93 CAI tune and have two questions.
1) on a road test I noticed the engine does not turn off 4 cylinders when cruising and...

2) Would it be beneficial to use my MTCM instead of the stock TCM.

Does anyone have any use with this?

I have the same issue with mds being reluctant to kick in. I posted a question about it on 7/16 titled "mds behavior/Cai tune question." No response yet.

1. Do you have MDS disabled?

2. The MTCM is not designed for mileage by any means, it holds gears longer at part throttle which will only make MPGS worse...

Hi,
Well it took about 50 miles of driving and then I could hear MDS turn on but the I also noticed the CEL on. It turns out to be 420 and 430? I cleared those code and will se if they come back.

Yep, very Hi flow. This is actually the very first time I seen the CEL in 7 years. And they came on again tonight just a little sooner than the last time. Can u recommend a quick adjust to fix that?

FYI MDS will not work with a CEL on with anything related to emissions or other major problems. However, I'd still like to know how much throttle boost is added to the mpg booster tune and 91 Octane tune so I can set it to stock and possibly pinpoint if this is causing my mds to not engage as quickly or stay engaged as good as stock. I love the feel of less torque management but hate my mds not working as well particularly with the mpg booster tune.
