I am running into an issue that is affecting my emissions and I want to see if there is anything that can be done. Two years ago I was running the Preditor on the 9r06 0r 9r07 CROM file on my 05' Dodge Ram 1500, had headers, cats and egr all in working condition and flew through emissions (they do an OBDII scan to test the readiness monitors). This year, with a custom tune for my cam, that still had those features turned on, running the 9r09 CROM, I am getting a "not ready" signal for the EGR, CATS, O2's, and EVAP. With no drive cycle for dodge, I put on over 1500 miles and drove it for a month.... went back for the test and the same 4 items were still not ready.
I updated the tuner after that as after that many miles and seat time something should have set to ready. Went to the 9r13 update and got an updated tune file for my cam. Also had him delete the EGR completely and I physically removed it. Went back in for testing and now the EGR reads ready, but the cats, O2's, and EVAP still read not ready.
The guy doing my tuning emailed me the other day saying that he has another 05 ram that he has tuned for a cam that is running into the same issue. While mine is not my daily driver and has had very little miles put on it this past year, his is his daily driver and has put thousands of miles on it without resetting the the truck or having a dead battery his is reading the exact same "not ready sensors".
So is there something within the dsp crom file that could be causing this issue and blocking out the signal? Would it be something in the custom tune that can modified to either force or allow these to set to ready that might not be turned on? I am running out of time now, on my last 30 days of my pass, before I can no longer drive it, and if it needs another few thousand miles driven it wont be possible. I can understand if you do not want to post what needs to be done within the tune on an open forum, but if you could drop me a PM would be nice so I can pass along the info to the tuner. My truck runs outstanding now so I would just like to figure out what needs to be done so I can keep driving it.
BTW there are no codes present, no CEL, nothing on the DSP that is being read wrong, no errors on loading a tune.

RE: 05
its in the custom tune.
crom version has no affect on anything in a custom tune.

RE: 05
Could have the same problem I had with the Jeep. No matter what was done to the tune, it would never be ready. Couldn't pass NYs inspection for anything. PCM was bad. Swapped it out and all was good when it was traded in. Passed CTs inspection with flying colors.

Re: RE: 05
you say it used to pass with the canned tune, correct?truckin wrote:Even though the custom tune did not touch the sensors? All the emission stuff was left alone.
now, you have a custom tune, and it wont pass?
IMO, that says its something in the custom tune...post the file up.

RE: Re: RE: 05
this happened to me too. try updating your calibration file. its NOT in the tune file.
i failed many times with the dsp, switched to SCT and didnt have any of these problems, although i think updating/reloading the cal file would have solved it.

RE: Re: RE: 05
DSP is emission legal they even tell you that in the manual my state AZ adopted CA emission rules, so i just reset my tune back to stock go thru the emissions and then reprogram. its the only sure fire way to pass unless you have underlying issues that cause you to fail---IE bad O2 sensor messed up CAT etc....
RE: Re: RE: 05
For some of us thats not an option. My Jeep wouldn't run without a tune. Neither will my CTS-V. Once you swap injectors you gotta figure out a way to pass with a tune installed.
