Engine and TCM
Engine and TCM
With all of the canned tunes can you just tune the engine and not use the TCM tune on the transmission?

Re: Engine and TCM
Yes. Don't know why you'd want to though. Between the better feel and improved longevity from the TCM tunes, why would you not want to use them?

Re: Engine and TCM
IMO it's not worth installing a tune if you are not going to tune the TCM. Makes the truck drive much better.

Re: Engine and TCM
I love the tune expect the hard jerk on the drivetrain from 2nd to 3rd it shifts a little to hard I dont want to damage anything the truck only has 27000 miles on it. I was just curious of my options.

Re: Engine and TCM
What TCM tune are you using? I didn't have any problems with the firm TCM tune at all and I just got a custom TCM tune from Lew (2nd revision, 1st would try and twist the whole truck!!) and it is great, tiny chirp to 2nd and a quick roll over to 3rd. Drives smooth and clean during normal driving, loving it so far.

Re: Engine and TCM
If there is a jerk from 2-3, adjust the shift pressure down a little bit. Problem will be solved.
I am running the firm shift tune set at +4 and have no clunking/jerking at all. Runs great and shifts like it should.
