2005 GTO questions on SLP 490 Bobcat tune, and logging data

Post by Booch »

Thanks for helping with my slp predator setup. The 455 tune on my 05 GTO has made a substantial difference . From reading alot of posts on the forum I see that alot of people log real time data for their vehicles. Is that something that I should also do? I have Kooks long tube headers and K&N CAI. Is this the strongest tune I can do on my vehicle. Can I go up to the 490 Bobcat tune? Also I would like to change the way the A4 shifts. Could someone suggest what I should do. I feel the car is running really good, but I want to try and get the most power I can get out of the tuner. What are my limits?

I don't know much about the BobCat 490 but what you can do with the tune you have currently, is do "logs". There is a link on here by 06MonteSS that will give you very clear instructions on how to do that w/ your Predator. Also, my car is a M6, and I'm not familiar w/ Automatics, but I know you need to turn off torque management, and "CAGS" (Computer Aided Gear Selection), and also, I've hear that there are "shift kits" out there you can purchase and use along w/ the Predator and it REALLY helps out the A4. Hope this helps!

yes, you should log some data...

air fuel ratio
commanded throttle position
engine speed
long term fuel trim bank 1
long term fuel trim bank 2
spark advance
total knock spark retard

can find all the info here:

The 490 Bobcat involves heads and other engine parts to be added. Look here: http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=29052

Thanks for the input everyone. I will do some logging probably tomorrow, and see what the numbers look like. Monte is possible that you might be able to take a look at them?

Problem with the log...

Post by Booch »

Thanks that would be great. I ran into a problem though. I followed your write up just as you said. I went into diagnostic tools, real time data, and chose gas general short. After I chose it, it loaded, and then a prompt came up saying vehicle not ready for live data. I tried it a few times and kept getting the same response. Any ideas why? See my drive to work is 65 miles each way. I have another car I drive, so I don't beat up the goat, but sometimes I like to drive it to work. I probably put about 200 miles on it since I put the tune on, and even though it's faster than ever, it still makes me nervous not knowing whats going on inside the engine. When you get a chance could you let me know what you think is wrong?

Thanks
