Tuned my 2011 Charger R/T AWD

Post by joemosfet »

My DS Trinity arrived today, so I updated it, loaded the latest CROM files, and dropped the 91 octane tune on my car.

I've been filling up with 91 (the best we have at the pump, at this altitude) for the past couple of weeks.

I think I feel it in the butt dyno! The throttle response definitely feels better, and the increased shift firmness is really a kick in the pants, but getting onto the highway (WOT), it seemed I "trapped" faster at the end of the on-ramp than usual...

Too bad the track is closed for the winter. Maybe I can find a closed road somewhere...

Overall I'm very pleased, and especially with the awesome price provided by the vendor (479 shipped).

Thanks, DiabloSport! 8)

Oh, I think because of the high altitude here (Denver), cars generally can run lower octane fuel, yeah?

Do you think I could run the 93 tune on the 91 octane? Monitor the knock sensors just in case...

You probably could run the 93 tune, but since the Hemis are very knock prone, its imperative that you keep an eye on your Short term knock retard.

Well, shoot.

Even with the 91 octane tune, on 91 fuel (Shell V-Power), at high RPM at WOT, (or maybe during shifts), i'm getting up to 4 degrees short term knock retard, (forgot to log it to file, d'oh!)

What should I do?

I've restored the stock tune, and will log again with johan's suggested PIDs, and we'll see if I get ST KR.

Stock tune knocks too.

But....
Mike_Levy wrote:That's common. All Hemi's knock. They knock on the stock tune even. Its nothing to be worried about unless it gets high enough for the computer not to be able to compensate. I believe Mopar PCMs can pull up to 12 degrees of timing, so anything below that is not that big a deal.

So I feel a bit better.
