Issue loading custom tune with U7142

I currently have a custom tune installed on my Predator. I am trying to load it into my '03 Cobra. I did have some issues getting the tune to the Predator and in the steps I took to update the Predator tool to the most current version. That seems to be working now. Howver, I still can't load the tune in the car. Here is what is happening ...

I first check Last Tune Written under Options and it says Original Backup.

I go into Performance Tune -- Turn Ignition ON -- select Custom Tunes -- select my custom tune -- shows correct vin for my car -- says now saving original backup -- then I get message "Sorry, this vehicle already has a performance tune. The Predator does not support tuning over non-factory tunes".
Followed by ... "Original backup NOT saved (2). Predator was unable to save your original tune. Not tuning vehicle because of backup."

Anyone have any ideas here? Will this require a re-flash of the pcm?

sounds like maybe you updated the tool without setting the vehicle back to stock first....what revision was it on before you updated it?

So when I loaded the r712d on there I needed to install original backup first? I did check the last tune written when I went back to r712d and it said Original Backup. I assumed because it said last tune written was original backup that I was ok. Guess I need to do all that again (install old version on tool, reinstall original backup, update tool to current version, load custom tune)?

I went back to version 7r12d. When I looked under last tune written I saw Original Backup. I then tried to load one of the canned tunes into the car just to see if it would work and it didn't. I got the same message that the vehicle already has a performance tune. Also, the predator will only communicate with the Downloader software when I upgrade the tool to v9r03. I currently have the tool at v9r03 and am in the same state ... shows Original Backup as last tune written but can't load a canned tune or custom tune. Also, trying to use the Restore Original Backup doesn't work as it says Original Backup is already written. I seem to be in no mans land and is quite frustrating for what should be a simple task.

seems yo u managed to reset this tool, the car is going to need to be flashed back to stock to make the tuner work again...
