2011 Challenger tune issues

Post by Robski »

Tuned my 2011 Challenger R/T classic yesterday with the 93 tune, disabling MDS, increasing speed limiter, and increasing RPM limits. I also set shift points to firm and disabled traction control. Increased throttle 5%

1st, with Traction control disabled, the dashlights also come on for brake and ABS. When trying to stop ABS comes on and car barely stops. I almost hit someone! No matter what speed pedal goes to floor and pulsates like abs is kicking in. I had to turn traction control on.

2nd, I left tuner connected overnight and came out to a dead battery this morning!

3rd, My A/C will no longer work! I get heat at hot and cool settings, ac compressor will not turn on. I changed program several times and even went to the 91, still no AC. I have not tried stock again yet. Fuses are OK.

4th, My Odometer went to all 0's after first flash. After cycling ignition a few times, the mileage came back.

5th with 5% increase on throttle, and 93 tune, I get hesitation when I floor it, then it takes off fast. Seems better with this left at 0

I am looking for some feedback on a proper tune for my car. I have a CIA and Borla cat back exhaust. Looking to increase HP and 1/4 mile times. Right now I seem to be killing the car with this tune. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Thanks for any help.

The first one is common knowledge. Traction control needs to stay on. Its only an option to turn it off for the dyno. Its not meant to be used on the street. Ever wonder why it turns back on after you turn the car off?

OK, thanks Mike, I was not aware of that and mine was not resetting after restart, it stayed off until I used the tuner to turn it back on, even after several restarts of the car

Any hints with the AC issue?

I have a 2011 challenger r/t as far as getting a dead battery, thats due to the fact that when the trinity is plugged in it never shuts off, it just goes to sleep still drawing power, I have not had any issues with the a/c yet, however the only time i had any issue with the dash is when programming the tune the guages went dead but that was because the security system kicks in and kills the car, called customer support and they let me know to pop the button and use the key to install the tune, i use 91 oct tune with the only modification on it was increasing the speed limiter, and i get plenty of performance out of it I run a K&N CAI and magnaflow exhaust system run some data loggin and see what you can come up with

It didn't reset? Hum, thats weird. Using the latest update?

Not sure on the AC. The clutch isn't engaging the compressor? Thats even weirder....

Robski, I don't see anyone posting a solution yet....but have you got found anything on the dead batter. I too have this issue. 2012 Challenger R/T Classic Plus with Arrington CIA, Arrington 85mm throttle body, Flowmaster CatBack with deleted resinators and Diablo Trinty. I run the 93 Octane program and Battery DEAD DEAD and a little more DEAD. I have not changed any other settings. I have contacted tech support today, but have not heard back yet. I have ran other programmers in the past on other vehicles and never had this trouble. I don't want to have to unplug it every time...just sucks!

I found that if you leave it on monotor then it will drain the batt. Just put it back to the home page and it does not draw much power.

Thanks all for the feedback. I put the stock tune back today and verified that the A/C works again. I reapplied the 93 tune and A/C still works. Must have been a fluke.

My tuner never tunes right the first time, always says it could not load tune with an unlock message, I then try to apply tune again and tuner locks up. I unplug it and plug back in and try tuning again and it does so with out turning the ignition to OFF first. Pretty buggy but I have the process nailed down.

I am running:
-93 tune
-MDS off
-Throttle +20%
-REV and Speed limiters removed
-Increased shift firmness

I have not messed with the WOT settings at all.

My 2011 RT Classic 5.7 Auto has a Borla cat back exhaust and K&N CIA.

Anyone have any recommendations for further tune settings?

I will try leaving tuner plugged in overnight at main menu to see if battery stays charged.
