adjusting transmission?

Post by BamaBoy »

How do I get my transmission to stop shifting so hard from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd? I'm using 87 octane tune with firm shift but it feels like its about to snap off the drive shaft and rear end.

Adjust the TCM tune when asked when cue pops up. Reduce the shift pressure for the offending gears. Or use the stock TCM tune.

then that means your tcm/tranny is not currently supported... you'll need to give them a copy of the saved tcm tune file so that engineering can add support for it... make your own new post about it with your tcm files attached in it....

Any resolution to the shifting problems? Mine is doing the same thing with the firm shift tune at WOT.

Did you lower the shift pressure for that WOT shift? Strange, you should not have anything bang with the canned tune with no adjustments made.

I am running the Firm Shift tune and have increased the pressure +3 for all gears and +2 @ WOT. Absolutely no banging at all.

Yeah, I thought it was strange too. I had first tried the hard shift tune and switched to the firm because it was rough at WOT. I was surprised when I found the firm the same way.

I lowered the line pressure by 5% on the WOT and tried increasing it on the partial shifts tonight. I took a short drive and did not notice any change at part throttle, which could be a little firmer but its ok. As for the WOT, I want to put a few more miles on it before I open it up so that the fuel trims can get in to range for it. I noticed when I made the changes it zeroed out my LTFTs. Sucks cause I was just getting ready to do a log and contact Lew. Oh well.

Oh, and the bang I get is so bad it makes the whole truck shudder, and not in a good way. I have had hard shifting transmissions before, but this one takes the cake.

I can fix your issue in a custom tune.. no worries... ;)

This is very frustrating spending hundreds of dollars for this programmer and it still needs to be tweeked on even using the canned tunes. I dont want to have to get a custom tune rightnow to fix my problem I just want to use the programmer but cant. I never had this problem with any of the superchips programmers I have had in all my trucks thru the years.

You do realize that the canned tunes are going to need to be tweaked to optimnize YOUR specific vehicle. No two engines/transmission combos will ever run the same, ever. You can use the programmer, change the shift pressure where the bang happens and problem solved.
