TCC issues with stock '09 software, will a program fix it?

Post by Anders_Y »

Hey Mike/Lew!
Haven't been in the Diablo world for a bit, been chasing down some gremlins in my truck ('09 GMC Sierra XFE, 5.3, 6speed). Also did a quick search in the diablo forums, and haven't seen anything yet. Have a question...

Preface: I restored back to the factory tune to troubleshoot some things that my truck has done since day one (some braking issues and a downshift/trans issue). I quickly and easily determined that the Trinity programs had nothing to do with any of them and continued my troubleshooting. I fixed the braking issue, and finally go the downshift issue troubleshot down to the TCC engaing during downshift between 3 to 2, the 2 to 1. Each time I get a infrequent, but powerful when it happens, power surge. I have updated the factory programs for the ECM, BCM, and TCM, with no improvment. I have found that all the service managers at the 3 dealers I've taken it to have said either that's the way it is or that it is a problem but GM has no fix.

A year later and still no fix, and I seem to be reading about others having the same issue with similar trucks. I have read a couple forum users (yes I know not to believe everything on forums...excluding this one!), have had success with a competitors programmer.

I was wondering if:
a) you guys have heard such GM complaints
b) you guys have remedied or fixed GM's programming issue in one of your updates?

As always, thanks for the info and knowledge forthcoming!

In case you or Mike have time to read (but beware you'll have to filter the lame stuff)...
