MDS shut off & engine oil

Not sure if this topic belongs here or can be answered via this forum. If I shut down the MDS system with my Trinity, does it completely disable MDS? Reason for this question is that if oil other than 5w20 is used, many have said it will trigger a check engine light (CEL), if MDS is shut down than I might be able to change oil to say 5w30 in hopes to lessen or eliminate start up engine knock that many us of face with the Hemi engines..thoughts???

we have 1000s of customers who disable their MDS, and Ive never seen/heard of any codes associated with it.
