Received RMA Intune replacement. Car already tuned HELP!

Post by fireman2118 »

I just received a replacement Intune for a unit that I RMA'ed. Here's the issue.........

My car was already tuned with the Intune that I sent for RMA. It had all the vehicle information, original backup and my custom tunes.
Now I have a new Intune and a car that is tuned but no way to use the 2 together. I did backup the Intune before I sent it in.
I have the backup, last tune written and the custom tunes saved. I tried loading the backup and last tune written to the new Intune and using it on my car. It read my car and said that the car was already tuned using a Diablosport tuner and wouldn't proceed.......DOH!

I assume that this has happened before and there's a way to work this out. Am I right?

Ok, I figured it out with the help of another post I found.

The New Intune downloaded the calibration update and that took care of it.

Could you possibly post a link to the post you found that explained it?

Thanks,

Not sure where I found it so I'll explain it here.

The Intune I had burned up the OBDII connector after the tune was in my car. I sent the Intune in for RMA repair. I received an Intune via UPS. I took it to my car, thinking that it was my Intune with my tunes. Turns out it was a replacement. I couldn't use it on my car because it said that a Diablosport tune was already on my car. Then it said to connect to a PC to update. I connected to my PC and the Intune updated the calibration for my car. i took it back to my car, plugged it in and saw that the Intune loaded the calibration update to my car. Apparently, the updated calibration file, restored the PCM to a stock state. After the PCM was updated, I was able to use the Intune normally.

How did you get your stock backup tune on your new device? I thought the only way to get it was to let the InTune copy it from your vehicle.

That's what I was explaining. I don't know the programming details but apparently the new Intune saw that my car was already tuned with another Intune. The new Intune displayed "connect to PC for update". I connected it to my PC and it downloaded a calibration update for my car. I then connected the new Intune to my car. The first thing it did was load the updated calibration file to my car. The updated calibration file must have written the stock tune back to my PCM because after the calibration file was loaded, the new Intune recognized it as the stock tune and copied it as the backup file.

This is the best I can do to explain it. Perhaps Mike or someone else can do better.
