To clarify...if I already have my Original Back-Up saved on my computer, do I have to have the Original Backup on the Trinity (Performance tune written to vehicle) as well, in order to write my custom tunes to my Trinity and then to my car? I know that the Original Back-Up is needed when loading a custom tune (to compare the custom to the original and write the differential file), but can I simply tell the Trinity to look at the Original-Back-Up saved on my computer, rather than needing to have it on the Trinity itself? Thanks!
the original backup is always saved on the trinity... it's still on there no matter what... (unless you restore original backup to the vehicle)...
so, when you used the dsdownloader to get a copy of the original backup tune file saved on your PC, it only makes a copy of it.. it does not removed it from the trinity...
and yes, you are correct... when you import a custom tune to the trinity, you would select the original backup tune file that is saved on your PC for it to compare to...

no...
if the car still has the original stock tune on it, then that means, you have not installed a diablo tune to it - or you have restored the original backup stock tune to the car, which means the trinity does not have the original backup stock tune file saved in it...
and, the trinity will not let you import a custom tune to it, unless it has already saved the original backup stock tune file in itself first.

I have uploaded the diablo tunes to my vehicle previously and have made a copy of the original back-up on my PC...but have taken the car to the dealership to have them do my ring and pinion and some other upgrades, so I restored my original back-up...in the meantime, I have had a set of custom CMR tunes written for my new mods...I am wondering if I can uploead these new tunes to my Trinity using the saved copy, since the vehilce is at the dealership, because I would like to pick it up and drive it with the new CMR tunes already loaded...is this possible, or do I have to pick up the car and load a diablo-tune to get the Original-Back-Up back on the Trinity itself for the CMR upload to take place? Thanks agian for all your help!!
no, like I said... you can NOT do that... it will not let you import a custom tune to it, unless it has saved a copy of the car's original backup stock tune in it FIRST...
it doesn't matter if you have a copy of your original backup saved on your PC... if the original backup is not saved from the car into the trinity - so that it is saved in the trinity, the trinity will not let you import a custom tune to it.

Re: Instructions: Your Custom Tune and You
So, I just had my TPS switch replaced in my '11 Silverado. Before taking it to the dealer, I returned the tune to stock. While they had the truck, they reflashed the computer. Now, when I try to install my custom tune, my trinity tells me that the modified tune can not be used. The original tune has a different PCM # than what the tuner is now reading. It's not saying that it's VIN locked but does not allow me any tuning options at all. It won't allow me to modify the stock tune either. After 40 minutes on hold with tech support, this is my only option.

Re: Instructions: Your Custom Tune and You
your findings are correct as they installed a new calibration so your previous custom tune will not match.
here is what you must do
-update your Trinity while it is not married to the truck
-reinstall the diablo canned tune you had proir to the custom tune
-Get a copy of the last tune written and your new original backup
-send these files and maybe a copy of your custom tune to your tuner and the tuner will modify your custom to work with the new calibration.

Only one thing to say about my "Diablew" Tune!

Re: Instructions: Your Custom Tune and You
before you went to the dealer, did you restore the original backup stock tune to your vehicle first??? if not, then your tool is locked and you can't use it.. contact diablo, provide proof that the dealer reflashed your ecm, and then they can help ya over the phone to get the tool unlocked/reset over the phone...
and if they updated your pcm you can't use any custom tunes from before, because your engine calibration ID's are now different, so you will have to get a new custom tune created from copies of the new original backup and last tune written files after you reinstall one of the regular preset canned tunes to the vehicle so that it saves those files in itself...

Re: Instructions: Your Custom Tune and You
i have asked on all forums but no answer, how do i program for my cai, and for my exhaust sytem? i also would like some help in figuring out where to start with my shifts i would like to have it shift agressively, at 60%- wot but still want good drivability, through out the lower end throttle. i have turn off the 4-6-8 cylinder crap and turned throttle up to 20% .ive messged a couple of diablo employees and also asked some of the members of the forum. im not being a a#@hole but im just asking for a little support i paid a little wad of my money for this trinity i just want to get as much out of it as possible. i surely hope this doesnt wind up being a dashboard ornament like that "Bullyshit" i bought earlier.
