Changing Parameters Only, MDS, Firmness

Post by pdimarco »

Do I have to load a tune to only turn off MDS or other parameters that are listed with this tuner? Just got it yesterday and wanted to take small steps. So instead if loading and entire tune, I thought I woud try to just monkey with one or two of the parameters. First one is that damn MDS. :P

I believe you can do it under the quick adjust menu, if not you can modify the stock tune once it has made a back up.

not interested in a tune, just getting rid of MDS and adjusting some other parameters like throttle & tire size

As of the last update, my DCX only shows Tire Size, Traction Control, and Shift Firmness options under the Quick Adjust menu. It looks like MDS would require a tune to be written whether you're modifying the stock tune or loading a performance tune.

yes, disabling mds requires you to load at least the modify stock tune.

Thanks

OK, gonna try it tomorrow weather permitting. Curious though, when I first received the unit, first thing I did was connect to the computer for a firmware update. So that is all set. But what I didnt see, are the tune files under the Tune folder.

Should I be able to see the tune files when attached to the computer? If so, then I may have an issue and would need to get the tune files loaded into that folder.

if there are no tunes inthe folder, it makes me think there are no tunes installed to the vehicle yet...

Correct. I have not tried to install a tune yet.

All that I did was connect the unit to my laptop and went through the auto update. When I did this, I noticed that the Tune folder did NOT have any files in there.

So I was guessing that the Tune folder should contain some sort of tune file that is used to update the PCM. Again, just speculating, so that I dont go through the trouble of connecting to my car only to find that a Tune file should be on the inTune unit.

Make sense?

no, the tunes folder holds your backup once it reads it, and the last tune written once it writes one to the pcm.

Thanks

Thanks Mike. I installed the 91 tune today. Worked fine. However, the MDS light comes on.

When I selected the 91 tune, I was prompted to use it as is or modify the tune. So I selected to modify and then turned off the MDS. It had an * next to the MDS line on the menu. So I then wrote the tune after that.

Some people I read, said you have to write the tune first and then modify the parameter? IDK

Thoughts?

Oh, I also was prompted to do a PCM calibration. Whats up with that?

Thanks again, the car drives so much better. Its a better driving experience and more enjoyable. However, not sure if MDS really is turned off.
