12 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 5.7 Knock Issue

Hey,

First just wanted to say you guys make a great tuner! I just got it two days ago and am LOVING it. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Seems like I'm having an odd issue when it comes to short term knock..... seems to happen for no apparent reason when viewed with the DS Log Viewer.... I will have a good pull and it wont happen then a little later I will try again and it will knock up to 6--- (5 in the log im attaching).

Im running a modified 91 Perf. Tune:
Modifications to the tune:
Leaned out .5 across the board
MDS OFF
Traction OFF
Speed Gov OFF (190*)
Throttle Boost: 20%


I was figuring it was a lean run issue---however..... I ran a bone stock 91 Perf Tune (no modifications) and it gave me a 4.0 knock randomly. Keep in mind this isnt a constant knock, just seems to happen here and there... I am running 91 Octane fuel (here in Las Vegas I have only been able to find 91 max unless i happen to go to LVMS.....)

Maybe try the 87? ----I have heard here and there that the stock 91 tune may be a little too generous with the spark advance though? Thoughts?

Alrighty---Just went out and ran the 87 Tune..... Just a BIT better----still getting Knock around 3.0........

So.... A little help would be appreciated.....

Got off of work and decided---Hey... I'll run an 87 tune, retard spark 1* across the range and that should fix it.... Seemed like it did untill I got a random .50 Knock-----and then got a 4.5 knock.... did multiple 0-60s, 60-80mph rolling etc.... problem seems like it comes on at random.........What it the heck? Retarding the spark should have eliminated pretty much all of it.

Shouldnt pulling timing and increasing fuel reduce knock?

could be oil vapors getting in the intake, catch cane may be a good idea.

no amount of fuel or spark adjustment will make it go away if it is oil contamination.
