I need more help

Post by r70chevy »

I purchased one of your Intunes for my 04 Chevy Tahoe. I do have some questions...

Your "Quick Start" was not very helpful and your online manual left me with more questions than answers.
On your "Quick Start" Why is it when you do your first download the computer screen tells you not to unplug the Intune, but the Intune itself only has the main screen on it, and never indicated whether or not it downloaded anything. I let the Intune sit there for over 2 hours because I was afraid to unplug it. I sent an email to your tech support and never received a response. I finally unplugged the Intune, even though my computer screen said not to unplug it. It did not indicate if it had ever rebooted.

I would imagine since this one I have was built in Jan 2013 it had no updates, but you can't tell if you just read the computer.
I asked you if this tuner will adjust for cold air intake, cat back systems, different size wheels and tires, and you said yes to all. The only thing I could find on the programmer was an adjustment for tires and wheels. Where are the adjustments for the rest?

I found these adjustments; what are they for:
Torque Management
CUT enable Temp
Injector Slope
Up shift Torque reduction
WOT for fuel and spark
Up shift MPH USTP

The Forums I went to did not really explain what they were for. If I use part of them, how does it affect the Tune I am using?
Where on your web site does it explain all these parameters? Some of the Forums stated you did not need to use them, then why make them available?

Your online manual shows 3 different octane levels; why does my tuner only show 2?

If you put the "Canned Tune" on the vehicle, how long does it take to take effect? Does the vehicle's computer have to learn the new program?

I have more questions, but this is as far as I have gone with the tuner. I look forward to your response.

when you get it... the first thing you will need to do is connect it to your Windows PC and let it do some updates... and after a few of them, it should popup a registration form for you to do the registration via the auto-updater app that starts up to register it... and after you enter your email address in the form, it will email you a reg code that you will need to enter in another field on the reg form. if you don't register it, you are only allowed to do two or three updates to it - and there are more than that that you will need to let it do, hehe...

after you do the registration, let it do any more updates... there are a lot of them, so it may take a while (30 min?)...

and when it seems like after its finally done and just sitting at the main screen, then unplug it from your pc, wait a few seconds... then plug it back in again.. and it will probably do some more updates....

after all the updating is done... then you can connect it to your vehicle and select a tune to install.... either the 87 Octane Tune if you use 87/89 octane gas most of the time, or the Diablo Tune if you're going to use 91 octane gas or higher all the time.

then, install the tunes, and that's it for now... you'll need to drive it however you normally do for a few days, until you get at least about 150 miles put on so that the fuel trims can get relearned by the ecm and settle in... after the miles have been put on, then you can record a steady driving log on the highway.... let me know when you get to that point and I can send you info about doing the data logging.

here's the full intune user manual about how to work it:

and yes, you will only have an 87 Octane Tune and a Diablo Tune (which is for 91+ octane), and modify stock tune (or its called Factory HP Tune) available for your truck... not all vehicles have all tunes available, the tunes that are available depend on the vehicle...

Torque Management -- reduce or disable engine/tranny torque management...

COT enable Temp -- if you do not have cat. converters on the truck, you can jack this up to highest setting to disable the COT protection

Injector Slope -- adjusts the fueling for part-throttle driving...

Up shift Torque reduction -- exactly what it says, reduce the torque managment for tranny up-shifts...

WOT for fuel and spark -- fueling and timing settings for Wide Open Throttle (WOT)

Up shift MPH USTP -- change your shift points, so it holds a gear or rpm longer to shit up at a higher speed/rpm
