08 SRT8 U7135
Hello !
Question,. I have the 91 CAI tune, raised shift points ,etc. seems in the last few weeks I do not feel like it shifts from 1-2 WOT as hard as it used to when tune was first installed, either A im already use to it, or B could the tune have a small problem ? Do we need to install original factory tune , the re-install 91 CAI tune ? If for some reason the tune was lost I would have all sorts of problems , right ??
Thanks !

No you can`t lose the tune once installed, you can however lose the backup on the tool if you were to ....update the tool without restoring the original backup to the vehicle.
For your question on the trans, with the car/key on, engine off pull the TCM fuse turn the key off and reinstall the fuse. All the adaptives will now be cleared and it will start to re-learn .

Only one thing to say about my "Diablew" Tune!

Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
Hey Thanks !! I did a lil messing around with the tuner this weekend, I found out the " shop" here in Houston I bought the U7135 from
only installed the 91 CAI tune, so I went thru a few parameters & changed a few things, increased shifts / points , & rev limiter in neutral & drive, Reset my TCM thru the tuner option ( did not pull fuse) & Added 20% Throttle Boost ( Really did not notice a Diff) . Istalled the 93 CAI tune, I have the Mopar CAI, Jet 180, & 3" exhaust from front to rear , I do I have hi flow Cats, Catch Can
thats it for now, I did not fool around with the spark / timing or Fuel & Knock Sensors, I did however get my quick/hard 2nd gear shift back, right at 6400 rpm. The Engine temp is running around a steady 187-192 , Very Nice ! oh & Fans on HI @ 175 . I have no CEL lights , & no problems. We do have good quality 93 octane around Houston . My question : is there someone on here who has already estalblished good set points/ parameters that we might can use as a base line, Based on the Mod's above, which seem to be about the same standard Mod's everyone else is doing, Without going a lil more extreme, like Cam, Push Rods/ Valve Springs, Larger Throttle Body
Head Work, Etc. Would I bennifet by having the knock sensors off ? just more maybe a " lil" more HP ? Is the risk worth the reward ?
Thanks !!

Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
You turn the knock sensors off on a Hemi you'll blow up the motor. The Hemis knock every time. With out timing being pulled to control it, good bye pistons.

Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
thanks Mike ! I kinda thought that might be the case , the next project for the car is a Cam/ push rods swap, here are the specs on the cam 218/226 on a 112 the lift at .050 is .566/.556 , this only needs the push rods changed, & it has a nice power gain & has that snap crackle POP idle. while still being a daily driver . I was first quoted from a place in Louisiana $4,600.00, a lil high for a cam / custom tune install, There is a great guy here in Houston who does nothing but GenIII hemi Mod's , His turn key install is about $2,200.00 this includes the custom tune. Once done I will send you guys a sound clip, should sound really nice ! Is there any other tricks that can be pulled out of the U7135 for our 6.1 motors ??
Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
It'll probably sound kinda like my Jeep did with a similar cam. http://youtu.be/pHGevylgGtE
Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
putting a bigger throttle body on a stock hemi intake plenum is useless, stock size is 83 mm, some go bigger to 85-90mm with worse results then stock-- better to get an 83mm ported and polished for better gains--- I know I had to do it on my ram
2013 Ram 1500 Express 5.7, Zone 6" lift, Predator 2 tuned,
Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
Even if you port the manifold and open it up its useless. The stock TB flows enough air for a 426ci motor at 7000rpm. Putting a freer flowing one on does nothing. It will help throttle response for a few days until the computer relearns and then theres nothing.

Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
Hey Mikel or anyone , real quick ?, I had a guy in Houston where i bought my U7135 install the tune, he said , I will do it for u & made a couple extra adj's, but last weekend I was looking thru the tuner & Diff. settings , & noticed I had the 91 CAI Tune, I changed it to the 93 CAI ,
I thought the 93 tune had the best HP gains ? & I always use nothing but 93 fuel, I have the norm mod's, Jet 180, Mopar CAI with 4" K&N Filter , Cat back 3" exhaust thru super 40's Flows. Catch Can . its a 08' 6.1 with Nag1 trans. Why would he not do the 93 vs the 91, & oh fans on high right about 170 degree. I have had tuners before & I would have done it myself , but he really wanted to do it fo me.
thanks !!

Re: 08 SRT8 U7135
He probably used the 91 tune because the 93 knocks on most gas. The Hemis like to knock, so unless he had time to customize the tune for your truck and gas, the 91 tune is safer and probably gave bigger gains.

Log it and find out. See what the KR readings are showing.
