TCM not installing
TCM not installing
I have installed the inTune on my 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP and I get both the TCM and EMC tunes on the first try (first install). I then restored the inTune and installed it on my 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche Z71 4x4 with the 5.3L LC9 flex fuel engine.
The ECM tune installed and worked. However, the TCM did not take. I installed the tune again without restoring the original backup. Only the ECM tune was available.
I have restored the inTune and my xml file is the following:
- <tool_info>
<main full_version="InTune-1r03h 02/25/2013 05:23:14 PM" sw_rev="1r03h" svn="5947" />
<registration sn="CIDT550-1" status="1" />
<cal_id PCM="12614088, 12614232, 12614217, 12614308, 12616055, 12614093, 12605899, 12605912" CM1="24235341, 24233141, 24237498, 24233140" />
<restore id="0" vin="3GNFK12367G260918" bc="4" />
<system_db info="1r01b" dtc="1r01a" vin="1r01c" />
<db mfr="DCX" tune="1r01b" pid="1r01a" />
<db mfr="FORD" tune="1r01n" pid="1r01a" />

<license avail="1" tuned="0" />
<updates count="2" />
<oem tool_oem="DIABLO" />
</tool_info>
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Re: TCM not installing
there is a new update for your PCM:
(Bulletin(s): 07-01-38-010)
there is also a new trans cal, I'd suggest getting it updated at the dealer as we cant add older cals.
Thanks

Re: TCM not installing
Okay, I will hit up the dealer to see what I can find out on the PCM and Transmission.
I do know my PCM was updated years ago to help fix a battery issue if I am not mistaken. I am not sure if the bulletin you posted is the same or not.
Hopefully he doesn't look at me like I am crazy when I mention the transmission calibration.

Re: TCM not installing
Hello Mike,
I just had my Avalanche to the dealer to check for updates.
My ECM only had one update for reducing the potential for A/C compressor failure.
All other IDs in the ECM were current.
Also, in the TCM all of my IDs were current.
Dealer charged my $85 to check and do the update.
I drove about 30 minutes to work. Then installed the inTune again. Installed twice without restoring. Then restored. Then installed again.
The TCM still does not become available in the inTune.
What eslse could be the issue?
Thanks.

Re: TCM not installing
Attached is a copy of the xml file.
I had restored they inTune and this is the xml file. Does it matter if the inTune has been restored, or do you need a copy of the xml file with the Diablo Tune installed?

Re: TCM not installing
Thanks Mike,
I will go back to the dealer. The must have just checked the calibrations with the currently installed version. Or my truck does is just before a VIN cutoff or something.
Was my ECM good or is there a newer one as well?
I really appreciate the help!
Thanks!

Re: TCM not installing
Hi Mike,
I went back to the dealer and had the 24241359 updated in the TCM per your instructions. The dealer looked at me like I was nuts and said it was for vehicles that were upfitted for 22" tires. He gave me a print out of what the update does (see attached).
As an FYI, my Avalanche is a Z71 4x4 with 18" wheels.
Anyhow, I went to install the inTune again and had the same results. No TCM installed, only ECM. I tried the install overtop of itself, then restored and re-installed. Nothing helped.
I have attached the latest xml file.
Any other ideas as to what it could be?
I kinda feel like I should put the 24237498 back in the TCM given I don't have the 22" wheels, but I will have to pay the dealer for it this time again.

Should I get my TCM returned to the 24237498 as I don't have 22" wheel/tires? I am not sure what they changed? Speedo calibration, shift points, etc.?

Re: TCM not installing
Hi Mike,
Not to beat a dead horse here, but you tuner is adding TCM for my vehicle in the inTune? Will it work for both TCM cals?
24241359
and
24237498
Thanks again.

Also, from a planning perspecitve, what is a realistic expectation for the update to be completed?ws6ta99 wrote:Hi Mike,
