Need help tuning 2008 Crown Vic, 5 speed swap with 4.10's

Post by boogieman »

I have a T-1000 and need some help tuning or know someone that can whip up a tune for me. I have a 2008 Ford Crown Vic P71 4.6 SOHC and it has a CAI, Long tube headers, no cats, X-pipe, 40 series Flowmasters dumped in front of axle. Just this past week I installed a 2004 TR3650 5 speed (out of 04 Mach 1 .062 5th gear) and 4.10 gears, I have driven the car but it is clearly in limp mode, If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!!

I received a E-mail from Diablo just stating to contact a local dealer well all the local dealers in a 100 mile radius have either went out of business or had nothing but bad things to say about the Diablo and keep telling me to go to a SCT tuner, saying that the SCT has more parameters and that the Diablo program has not been updated in over 12 years!? Pretty wild having more than a couple shops tell me this? Makes me wonder....

who are you calling?

sounds like some shops that simply cant tune, so they use sct and their preloaded 'custom tunes' to make themselves look good.

As for not updated, lol.

Why is it were are the only ones that can tune 2014 Mustangs currently?

Post a copy of the last tune written from the trinity and I'll see if we can change the config settings, and give me your zip code and I'll see who is around that can help you out :)

Im not going to name names as I don't want to be held for slander, BUT the one shop I talked to he acted like he had a serious axe to grind with Diablosport and he is one of your vendors listed on your list within 50 miles of me and he flat out told me the "Diablo stuff is outdated and does not have as many parameters to tune with as the SCT and I refuse to make any tunes for one (Diablo)" Also do you want a copy of my original tune or the 93 octane tune I will be running??

Here is the last tune written, I did modify the tune for the gears but it did not have 4.10's only 4.06 or 4.16?? I set it to 4.06 other than that it's just the canned 93 octane tune.

give this a shot, reset the parameters in the tool when you load it.

Mike, just loaded the tune and reset the parameters and when I start the car it revs to about 1300-1500 RPM then idles down and dies, when I try to feather the pedal to keep it running it's like the engine is "loading up" tried it a couple times and still did the same thing, smelled extremely rich, Also the wrench light was still on "limp mode" and I ran it long enough to throw the check engine light I read them and they were all transmission codes, "Torque convertor" "Shift solenoid A-B" and a couple other all pertaining to the automatic transmission so obviously the PCM tune is not regonizing that it is a manual now. I also noticed when I installed the custom tune it said "Predator" in the file??? I have a Trinity T-1000? I take it does not make a difference to the file? Thanks,Dave

I had http://www.tuningsuperstore.com make a tune for it and they graciously gave it to me without payment because I asked what would happen if it did not work? Well the car idled really good around 750 RPM but the "Wrench" light came back on within a matter of seconds, I scanned it and they were all automatic transmission codes.... P0748,P0755,P0758,P0960,P1702,P0708,P0713,P0740,P0743.... Pretty frustrating as all the guys that have had tune's done on their 5 speed swapped Crown Vic's have got them from the guy that said he won't write a diablo tune?????!!

This is outrageous, heck the guy from TSS even stated that for my application the SCT would be better!

I guess im done here, thanks for what little help you gave me, Pretty sad I cannot get anyone to tune my car with this tuner, looks like what I was told in the beginning was the truth as there are not as many parameters in the Diablo to modify the stock tune. Guess I will be looking for a SCT tuner.

this is not the place to get custom tunes.
I offered to help, I made a file with the trans config changed, if that did not work, its time for more extensive custom tuning.
No reason to expect this to work for free when you have a rather odd combination ;)
