Trying Predator U7135 again after 2 years

Post by BamaBoi »

2006 - 300C - 5.7L
u7135 9r12
K&N Typhoon Filter
Borla Catback

Problems:
My MDS again is kicking very stiff on the interstate when on cruise control. While in the stock tune I can hear the MDS drone but I never feel the system engage.

Down shifting from 2nd to 1st gear under normal driving (Not using the auto-stick) while stopping seems to "drone" or "hesitate" slightly longer than it seems it should. The car is not stalling and there are no codes associated.

- I saw a post about a "MDS Smooth" adjustment Mike made for a client. Is there something I can do to make that kind of change and what exactly is the cause?

I drive conservative when kids are in the car and spirited when they are not. Functionality of the vehicle is excellent. I have exceeded services and recommendations for the vehicle maintenance. Recently flushed/replaced the tranny fluid and filter, inspected suspension components, replaced sway bar end links and bushings, put on a new belt tensioner and gatorback belt, new plugs (OEM), new brake pads, turned rotors, new tires, etc...

I did reset the TCM Module and lowered the Fan Speeds by 5 on all points for fun. No other changes to the 91 Oct CAI tune was made.

 The last time I used the tuner I remember reading in a manual or online a statement like "89 Octane could be used on the 91 Oct Tune". I now see in every discussion I could find that this is not recommended?

Thank you.

post the LTW...

no, using 89 with the 91 tune is a terrible idea.

So after another drive today it still seems to stay in 2nd a little longer than necessary and the MDS disengagement back to 8 cylinders at highway speeds is very noticeable.

Any help you can give is very appreciated.

Why is it noted as custom? I didn't change anything... MDS-On, ESP- ON, No thermostat upgrade and I reset the TCM last time and unplugged the battery last night as I was doing some unrelated work on the vehicle?

Should I reinstall factory tune, load the updated file into the tool and then re-install "Custom Tune"?

I removed the tune again because of the listed issues. What is the turn around for a modified tune?

The shift points are smoother under deceleration but that wonderful MDS drone is still very pronounced...

Mike, Can I just turn off the MDS with this tune or should I go back to a CAI 91 Oct canned version with MDS disabled?

Again, The shift points are enjoyable but the cylinder shutoff moments (both sound and 1 second hesitations to kick throttle back in) spoil the fun.
