PID Values? Formula?

Post by Mike_Levy »

This is going to sound stupid, but do you happen to know the PID values and Formula for Knock Retard?

Trying to make a dashboard on EngineLink in my iPhone, and KR isn't one of the listed PIDs, so it needs to be custom added. Its asking for the ECU ID and PID values and a formula to calculate the value. I'm like totally lost. Have no idea what to enter and this company has been no help. 8 fucking Prius dashboards, but nothing useful in their standard ones and no BMW specific ones.

http://www.outdoor-apps.com/enginelink/wiki.html

I attached the PID List from the app so you can see what they're looking for.

Okay, apparently the computer isn't reporting KR? Is that even possible? The Dashhawk doesn't show a reading for it either. Its actually not reporting a lot of things. ScanMaster on my laptop is showing 2 different ECUs, so I'm wondering if some of this stuff is reported on the other one.

Its not reporting it. It is however showing that my cats aren't ready for whatever reason. These are the stockers. The high flows and downpipes are scheduled to go in on Tuesday, but if these are bad, I'm gonna hold off and make BMW replace them first.

I did a ECU reset. I'll see what happens after a few miles.

Torque isn't showing KR either. It must be one of the manufacturer specific PIDs that nobody supports. I was reading about an app called "BMWhat?" (that thankfully has an iOS version, because I'm hating Android) that can supposedly get further into the ECUs, but I haven't tried it yet.

Ugh. BMWhat? shows 4 faults codes. Thats all it does is diagnostics. And because I only downloaded the Lite version, it won't even tell me what the faults are, except to say that none of them are OBD2 codes. No shit!! If they were, any scanner would have picked them up! Now they want me to spend $50 for a stupid full version to find out what the codes are? And its not even fully compatible with my truck and motor??? Screw that!! For now, the codes will stay. If they become a problem I'll just go to the dealer. I'm covered until 8/16/2017, so I really don't care enough to pay for the app.

What a waste.

wow, sounds like BMWs are for ballers :)

you are indeed correct....I would imagine a sub $800 tool that tuned/logged and read/cleared codes on these vehicles would be a hot ticket....hmmmm....

Yeah, for people with more money than brains. Wish one of the domestic manufacturers could make a 555hp Twin Turbo V8 SUV with decent interior space. Until one of them does, I'm pretty much stuck with the Europeans.

We really need a decent tool. Its just the idiots don't realize it yet. When you get something out, then they'll understand.

Plus, you know you have a built in BETA tester, and guaranteed buyer.
