New InTune non-functional?

Post by 2012v6Pony »

Connected to the car wait for the InTune to start up then turned the ignition on (not starting) when prompted only to wait for it to clear the screen and then the busy wheel spins about 3 full turns and then stops that's it good night Irene. I waited at this point for 20 minutes before trying to update the firmware...
Tried to connect to my Windows 7(x64) Ultimate in the hopes an update may resolve the issue only to find that Windows will not install the driver. Driver failed to install: visit the manufactures site to see if they have a driver.
I am administrator on the PC (also work in the IT industry)
2012 Mustang 3.7L V6 Automatic Premium Pony Package.
Just had the safety/emissions done today (required OBDC communication) passed with flying colors. This was done several hours before trying to use the InTune. I had gone out to dinner and did stop at a couple places, also stopped and got gas, so the car was turned off and restarted like 4 or 5 times after the emissions testing, seemed to run just fine.

So now what?

Not the best way to make an impression with a new user / customer.

works fine on Win7 64...

need to make sure your user account is an Administrator account... and you also need to disable the UAC crap on the user account... the User Access Control setting...

nope... didn't see that part at all... just pointing out that this is the common issue, especially since people usually don't know or think about the User Access Control stuff on Win7...

so if those things are all done already on your pc, then you have some other issue that I'm not aware of, because this is usually the problem and resolves it and the driver installs just fine....

did you try disabling any anti-virus software that may be running which could be blocking it???

and no offense to you, but I've been in the IT Industry for 20+ years, and have known/met a lot of "IT" guys that had no business being "IT" guys and didn't know how to do anything unless it was written out step by step for them, haha... so, I just always give info/instructions to people as if they don't have any prior computer knowledge... as most "home users" don't generally know about all the admin and UAC settings, etc etc... Hell, I've had to remotely connect to many many people's PC's and do everything for them myself, even to attach files to an email to send to myself hah... so, I make no assumptions of what anyone knows or doesn't know, as I've seen it all... heh..

Wondering if it could due to this being a Windows 7(x64) Ultimate OS I do not have Bit Locker enabled though nor compression.
I do run on a SSD it's really quite fast (not over clocked mind you)

I will try disabling virus software (once I disconnect from the network)

Thanks for the help, sorry I came across a bit short tempered... just frustrated

OK I got it to update!
But turning off virus software didn't seem to do anything...

This may seem odd but I shut my PC down and then connected the InTune/USB then started the PC (takes all of 20 seconds for a cold start with SSD :P ) and suddenly I see "Windows has installed a new driver"... and the InTune auto-update pops up! :D

I had a photo card reader do this same type thing to me before at work is the only reason I thought to try it but it did get the driver installed and I am able to see both drives now.

So now I am waiting for the update process to complete

Do you happen to know what the current version is?
I started at 1r03h and wondering how long it should sit at preparing...
BTW I have been working with PC's since 85 and I am not a button pusher/parts changer lol
Actually have a CS Degree and it has been a hobby forever well as close as it gets anyway

I have what seems to be exactly the same problem.

Just received InTune today, tried to install on my 2011 Mustang GT. Freezes after a couple seconds of the round-and-round "wait" symbol.

Hooked it up to the PC, got it updated eventually (on win7, had to run as admin) which took around 45 minutes. Registered it when prompted to do so, everything seems good, so back out to the car...

Same thing...freezes at the same place. Same whether i try to read codes or tune the car...

I plug in InTune, wait a while...select either "tune vehicle" or "scan tool", turn ignition on when prompted, wait symbol comes up, goes around in circles a few times then freezes. Eventually I get bored staring at it and unplug it.

So far I'm not too impressed. I hope there's a simple fix for this.

The current version on mine is ir03j, ford tune db is ir01n

Seems even after the upgrade it crashes on identifying the vehicle.
Tried just pulling codes, same deal... prompt to turn on the key and 2ish spins of the wait wheel and that's all she wrote...

When I go to delete vehicle it does show my VIN though so whats up :?:

Also when I go to delete tunes it shows 3 of them but "NullVIN" is shown above them.

When I look at the InTune drive with the tunes folder the folder is empty.

And yes I canceled the deletes mentioned above just wanted to see what it would show.

Also the current version on mine is ir03j, ford tune db is ir01n though I did notice my Ford DB has a (*) not (ok) whatever that designates

It is not so much that you are using an ADMIN account... it is however important to right click on the inTune.exe file and give the program administrator rights (run as administrator)
Only one thing to say about my "Diablew" Tune!

OK so discovered another new update today... funny no firmware version difference though and...

SAME PROBLEM...

Connect to vehicle wait for initialization press tune... write... and then turn the ignition on when prompted the prompt clears a few seconds later and the busy wheel spins about 3 times and again locked up...

Needless to say this is getting old real fast... it isn't like these things just came on the market last week.

I am not the only one seeing this so obviously it is more than likely not something to do with the device itself.

Its a software bug, we're on it.
Give us a call with the tool powered up so we can reset it for you.
