2003 chevy silverado bogging/running rich u7195
I've been trying to dial my fuel in for a while now and I'm not having much luck. The truck is 4wd, stock tires, 3:73 gears and has a 5.3 w/ a K+n cold air intake, but otherwise it's stock. The problem I'm having is a low end bog in second and third gear. It feels like its running rich because it won't accelerate crisply. In first it goes good, but if I romp on it in third and it doesn't downshift the truck feels like a dog. I have a work truck with the same stock configuration (but w/ smaller 4.8) and it seems faster, quicker revving. I have leaned out the PE to -6 (2-4k) and -4 (4+k) and left the injector slope alone (getting -.78 LTFT) and it seems better, but I guess I'm worried about hurting my truck by going too lean on the PE. I did check the plugs and they were darker than I'd like. Can I continue to go lean (PE) until I get the clean acceleration I think the truck should have? I've read several complaints about this issue, so I don't think I'm alone on this. Thanks.

You really should have some idea as to where the A/F sits before making changes to the PE ranges.
Right now you are shooting in the dark.
Get to a local dyno and see where it is at...

get yourself an A/FR gauge with a wideband sensor and forget all your worries. then wire it up and put it in a little pillar mounted pod, weld another bong in your exhaust for the sensor, and screw it in. digital A/FR gauges are beautiful, and tell you constantly what your A/FR is. you dont want to lean or richen your PEfueling without knowing this value.....
