MikeW,
What is the reason behind the idea of developing tunes for each update Ford releases? If you are doing this and reverse engineering the code each time I’m beginning to understand your quandary. Since the debut of the 6.0, how many of Ford’s updates really address issues that would interest this community? Why not continue to refine your tunes and only address new Ford updates when there’s a compelling reason to do so? Could you please shed some light on this subject?
Some previous discussion along this line…
“Phil,
I also have had a consistent 4-5 MPG drop in fuel mileage moving from r17 to r19. The last two sentences above disturb me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the Predator re-programmed the ECM. If that the case, what does the factory tune have to do with a DS modified tune. My knowledge of fuel systems is limited but I would think that to increase power in this specific application the following parameters if available would need to be modified. Injector on event in time related to TDC, Injector off event in time related to TDC, pulse duration in time, fuel pressure, boost pressure, boost rate, maybe others please elaborate. Therefore I do not buy the idea of the factory tune impacting the DS tune in the areas of this discussion unless DS is only adjusting boost rate and pressure while fooling the gage because it seems to tract the factory boost rates and pressures. No insinuations just observations.
rtprestw, All tunes are based off of the stock tunes. If the new tune that was flashed to the truck via (new calid) has less hp than the one that was previously in the truck had. You will gain less with the predator tune installed. So you are getting X amount of hp added to the stock tune. Every vehicle does not put out the same figures.
So, basically, from a fuel management perspective the Predator is "acting" the same as an in-line module, correct? I was under the assumption from reading the info here that the Predator was able to fully manipulate fuel management and if true would NOT act as you describe but would rather be fully programmable and independent from a fuel management perspective.
The Predator canned tunes are developed for stock to lightly modified vehicles. You can go into those tunes and adjust timing & fuel to a certain point. If you have a more modified vehicle heads, cam, intake or power adder a custom tune will be needed. Those are developed on a chassis dyno. All the parameters are monitored. And a custom tune is written for said modifications. With a out of box predator there is a limit to what you can do with it. Don't want customers to be able to adjust so far they can do damage to vehicle.â€

MikeW,
Is it correct to say Ford is the only one capable of changing the base file once its in a vehicle even though I may have a backup of it on my PC?. The reason I ask is I want to prevent being stuck without a DS tune until its supported. I went 4-5 weeks without a tune due to the last base file update waiting on r19.

Mike W, can we get an update on this program?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 2003 6.0 VXAP2n2 u7165 lastest rev
So I was just scanning the posts in other threads seeing how we have not gotten any timeline for our r19 questions and fix. I see where Christine has stated that we will see it "in a week or two" and will have all new tunes on the r20. So is this a true statment or another floater that the tech team passes around?

It has been one month since this started and you all said just a couple of weeks. Is there a rev 20 coming out today?

You are funny !
After a quick initial review of some of the files, I do see some issues.
Won't take too long to resolve them. I'm going to work to get you some things you currently don't have now.
I'll keep a progress report so you can follow what we are doing.
This is what Mike wesley said on Dec 21/07 how long is too long?

I left my cape at home, but I am testing some tunes right now in my 04 F250.
