Is my ECM bricked?

Post by imoveteeth »

Having a big problem!

Used a Trinity 100 to update a 2013 Jeep Wrangler mainly to change gear ratio. For some reason, Jeep keep going into limp mode so I tried some other thing like putting a the 87 Perf tune in. It went in fine, but did not cure my limp mode problem. All software was upgraded today 10/12/13 off the website.

I tried to restore the original tune and in the middle it said it couldn't write. Jeep won't start now, has flashing red light, and the Diablo says it can't read the VIN.

We have been desperately trying to get this Jeep ready for an event in 1.5 weeks so any help you can provide would be great.

the limp mode is due to the gear ratio not changing properly, the ears are causing it, we are working on a fix, but if you need something asap, id recommend an AEV procal.

Thanks Mike...

I ordered a Procal as I suspected that might be the case.

Spade Kreations will be calling on my behalf to try and get the stock tune loaded back up. I'm hoping you can force it as the tuner won't talk to it anymore as it says it can't get the VIN. I had to have it towed back up to the shop this weekend as its completely inoperable.

2013 Jeep JK immediately runs rough as soon as its put in gear (drive or reverse), then its in limp mode almost instantly, very little throttle response, feels like its slipping. We've cleared codes multiple times, discoed battery for hours, shorted terminals, unplugged PCM / TCM, still get code P0735 immediately.

Tried to use the ProCal like you recommended, but it still doesn't work and we've tried everything to get it to work. Is there any residual code that could be left in the PCM or TCM that could be affecting it or be corrupted?

I've unmarried the Diablo and even tried to have the Jeep dealership reflash to stock but they can't do it because they said the current flashes are current and their system will only allow updates.

Do you have any way to reflash a PCM and TCM to stock so we are sure? We can remove or send them to you do be sure. Dealer says only way to reflash is to purchase new units.

Thanks for any help you provide.

are you sure you are setting the procal correctly?
As I recall, there are different instructions for the 2013, but there is no reason the dealer cant reprogram the gear ratio, its a module reconfig deal, they dont need to flash the pcm. Actually, find a better dealer :)

Hello,

This is Ken @ Spade Kreations.

We are helping on this vehicle as well.

In my contact with the dealer, they say they could not re-flash or re-initialize the TCM. I asked them to program it, as if it was a brand new module, and they said they were not able to do this. I'm not sure if this is the standard answer, like they could not update the software or reflash, since the software was up to date.

The dealer did say, initially, they could not retrieve a vin number out of the TCM. They said they initialized it with a generic number, and that allowed them in the module.

I have a call into AEV to be sure we have the correct instructions for the Procal.

Thanks for your time and input.

I know for sure we have other customers using AEV to adjust for gears, Im guessing there is a simple piece missing somewhere...
