Strange lag in 2nd gear, torque management?

Post by DJK13 »

DS,

I have been running the Trinity on my 2013 Wrangler 5AT on the 93 Tune with 20% throttle boost since support was announced. I am very pleased with the power gains. However, there is a "severe" lag in 2nd gear. Even when using the auto stick to change gears. What I mean is that when it gets to around 2500rpm at most throttle positions besides wide open, it's almost like it changes gears again it's such a stall. The RPMs will climb, and then about that point it will "lag" and drop down RPM a bit and then keep going again. It almost seems like torque management I believe. It is very annoying. Does this description make sense at all, and is there a way to fix it?

Thank You
Andrew

It's extremely noticeable almost to the point of where it feels like it has changed gears but then it picks right back up. Is there a way to reset the TCM or should I completely reflash the tune? The only thing I'm running is an airaid cold air intake and a small throttle body spacer.

Thank You

i've had this issue since day 1 of having my JK. pisses me off. it's like an annoying little half shift for no purpose. it's always shifted weird for me. not when i'm in manual mode tho. only in auto. its like it's undecided on if it really want to shift into 3rd or not. very annoying. keep tellin myself i'll get used to it, but it's unlike any auto tranny i've ever driven because it's unpredictable when shifting into 3rd.

Yes! This is the same thing mine does, but even if I have it in 2 via the manual mode it still does that hesitation half shift thing. I wish it could be tuned out.

I'm running stock 3.73 gears but I have 255/80/17 tires that are a bit taller than the stock ones. I used the trinity to change that accordingly. Mine did this with the stock tires as well if I remember correctly.

stock 3.73's and runnin 35" Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires. i have my Trinity set at 33.5" and that makes my speedo correct per my mobile GPS. so not true 35's. but no, not stock tires.

My truck does the same thing and I think it is the torque converter locking up.
