Cold air Intakes

Are these worth the money? if so which one is best? Are they good on power or fuell economy? any input will be appreciated thanx.

I have an AEM Bruteforce, this is the second vehicle that I've had one on. They create more noise when you step on it. They do let the engine breathe better. I can't say how much better because I put the intake and programmer on the truck both on the same day. My previous vehicle (4.3l V6 S10) it was good for a couple of MPG and definitely improved power. Raced identical truck on the track and beat him by 1.5 lengths, I have just the intake and he was stock. It was a planned race so I could see what a difference it did make.

In my opinion, they are worth it.

i got a K&N FIPK and it didnt seem to affect my milage but i put it on righ when it turned to winter basically and winter gass drops your mileage so i dont really know but it definately improved throttle resonse and some horsepower they claim it gives the 6.0L 20hp more like 10 but it was worth it for me
ive heard alot of good feedback on teh brute force i just got my k/n cause it was a good deal from summit

the oem intake on the 2006 z71 is "high flow" and dosent appear to breathe out of the engine compartment. it has a duct that runs out the fender. maybe i'm mistaken but isn't this the whole idea of a cold air intake?

Also look at the size of the intake itself. The tube going into the engine is roughly the same size, but its that rough couragated tubing versus a smooth tube. The inlet in the fender is MAYBE 2" across, mine is now a complete cone filter, UNRESTRICTED. There is the big difference.

One advantage of the stock system is if you do go 4X4ing in mud and water, but if you drive like 99.9% of the people out there, you'll be fine.
