"Vin not recognized" 2011 JEEP Grand Cherokee 5.7L

Post by OJwerks »

Got a DCX today, plugged it in my computer right after i unpackaged it, i let it perform its updates and then proceeded to install on my jeep.

The device gave me a "Vin not recognized" message, so I hit the "enter manually" option and it did not recognize it as well...

I have an i1000 installed on a chevy colorado so im pretty familiar with the simple steps of installing the device.

what could be happening here?

if you're not getting a vin read out by the tool, my best suggestion would be to head to the dealer and have them program a vin into the computer. Once the vin is in you should be able to start tuning.

could you give me a phone # to which i can contact you? I went to the dealer today to look into this and it appears that the PCM is programmed with my VIN as it should, I even took pictures of the dealer scan tool and everything.

I spoke to a buddy today with a WK2 that told me he was experiencing the same problem, and he told me that after contacting you guys that you gays manually inserted the Vin into the system and that afterwards he was instructed to update his DCX and it worked for him... please let me know. Thanks.

i have to say that im extremely dissapointed about this whole situation.... we have now attempted to use the programmer on 3 more WK2's ... 1 being 2011 and the other 2 being 2012 models, and they are all giving me the same error... got in contact with you guys over the phone multiple times and the answer im getting is that the problem is the vehicle and the device...

but to be honest i find hard to believe the THREE vehicles are going to have this problem... so now i have two DCX tuners that i have not been able to use, and basically the only solution/alternative that was given to me by you guys was to try out using the Trinity device and see if that works...

So if anyone in Diablosport is willing to work this issue out i would be more than glad to help out with what I can...since I think the issue is with WK2's in Venezuela, as Ive been hearing the same issue from more folks here locally. I have 2 new DCX tuners on hand to work with and 3 different WK2's ...one 2011 and two 2012s.

my email is [email protected] if anyone wants to take the time to contact me and try to work this out. Thanks.

I have seen several 11 up Jeeps in Egypt with the same scenario. if the PCM has no VIN, the intune simply cant talk to it.
As mentioned, Trinity might be able to work with it.
