Dual tunes possible?

Post by jasinedward »

I have a friend that uses a competitor tuning device. He claims to have a custom tune that allows him to run a different (nitrous) tune at the flip of a switch. He says it is built into the tune itself. Is this possible with an Intune? Vehicle is a 2013-14 Mustang GT

no it's not possible...

what he's most likely doing is using 2 pcm's... and flipping the switch makes the car use one pcm or the other....

Black Bear Performance does similar tunes. They can give you two totally seperate custom tunes using the same PCM/TCM. The tunes are switched by pressing the tow haul button in our trucks. You can switch from one custom tune to another just by pressing the button.

yeah, using different software and a custom operating system on the pcm....

not something that can be done with a handheld or diablo's software, since it keeps the stock GM operating system, so you can restore the original backup stock tune to the vehicle without having to worry about warranty issues.. ;)

BlackBear is a bunch of scumbags. Can't deal with a little competition on the forums. They go whining to the mods when you bring up DiabloSport.

It is possible with the 11up mustangs. I just haven't looked into it enough yet to see what they're doing.

What they're doing is adding a switched resistor to the temp gauge. Once the switch is activated, it shoots the temp gauge to 240. The tune he has pulls timing when the temp gauge reads 240. This way, he doesn't even have to restart the car.

Well that's not a separate tune, they're just forcing the pcm to pull timing for the nitrous!
