Modifying stock tune question 2013 RT Auto

Post by xgto »

I’m currently using the 93 octane tune that came in my Trinity. From what I’ve read on this site the only parameters that are active outside of WOT are the MDS off, Throttle boost and neutral rev limiter. MDS and Throttle Boost to me make the Trinity worth the money I spent.
Considering that I’m not at WOT 80% of the time I’m thinking of going back to the factory recommended 89 octane. This would have me do a modified stock tune. Could I add fuel at WOT in the modified stock tune program? Also what octane is the modified stock program specified for? Since when I go into the tune program my Trinity only shows modify stock , 91 and 93.

Adding more fuel may not help in 89 oct fuel. Octane is basically how easy the fuel can ignite. If you dump more 89 in the cyl by increasing fuel then you may just waste fuel by not buring it all completely and possibly give knock and fuel buildup in the exhaust causing backfires or pops. 89 does not burn as well or complete as 93 would. You lose power no matter if you add extra fuel. The excess will simply not completely burn off = waste of gas. In the long run you will fill up more times. Utalize the power of the fuel for more efficiency. Cars that are made for 89 fuels work better and more fuel efficient on higher octane 93 and get better MPG on average.
