Hi Just installed intune DCX for my 2013 Ram 1500. The tool updated on its own when plugged into PC, my computer (Vista) stated it did not have proper driver, and prompted me to insert disk from Diablo to install driver. Prob is, no disk is included. So after fumbling around looking in the box for a disk, I looked over at the tool still plugged into my PC, and it was updating all on its own. Well that was easy! I then went to my truck and installed the 87 Octane Tune, and wow it sure woke it up. My biggest complaint with the OEM tune, is the throttle response is soooo slow. This fixed the lazy throttle.
Question is; When i access the "quick adjustment" section and make a couple changes, The manual says changes will take effect once key cycled off and on again, but after I make changes on tool, then press the Back button(assuming I have to exit to main screen before I unplug tool) i get prompted " Install 87 oct tune? yes or no"
Do i have to install tune again at that point to make my minor "quick adjust" settings take effect?
The instructions dont really give good detail on this part of adjusting parameters. It never prompts me to cycle key, or says when its safe to disconnect cable....... Or simply stated, the flow chart on actual tool in some instances doesnt match what the manual is saying.
Otherwise very happy!!
Just installed DCX in 2013 Ram 1500 I have a couple Question
Re: Just installed DCX in 2013 Ram 1500 I have a couple Ques
It won't have to install the whole tune again, just the changes you made, and I know, it asks "install 87 octane tune" but it will just install whatever parameter you changed. I know, because I did the same to my car, I installed the 91 octane tune, and went in to make some changes, and it asked again after I was done making changes to " install 91 octane tune" I hit the green check, and it was only a minute if that, and it was done and updated.
I am no pro on the tuner, but this is my experience with mine

OK thanks, that worked like you said, only takes a minute if that to update the tune. i was just mislead, thinking the whole tune process (8 min) would have to happen. not the case. just a couple cycles of the key when promped and voila!
Now Im happy with setup. The tool's back in box stored in the house for safekeeping. I'd lose sleep if it ever got it ripped off out of my truck........the OEM tune in its memory would be gone forever.....or would it?

Save a copy to your desktop. Save another copy to a flash drive. You can never be to careful.rcr211 wrote: I'd lose sleep if it ever got it ripped off out of my truck........the OEM tune in its memory would be gone forever.....or would it?

The "please insert disc" message if basically an instance of Windows being a little dumb. When the tool is booting up, or if it's importing a file onto itself, it is not communicating with the computer and Windows just sees an empty CD Rom drive plugged in. Since it's not getting information from the inTune at certain points, it's requesting the information from the user (you). In other words, just close the notification and ignore it. The update software is already contained on the inTune's CD Rom drive.rcr211 wrote:Hi Just installed intune DCX for my 2013 Ram 1500. It was mentioned in this thread, but I'll specify about the Quick Adjust menu: those parameters are adjusted through a module other than the PCM, which is why you do not have to reload the tune to apply them. If it is a parameter that is integral to the engine tune (the one applied to the PCM) that requires rewriting the tune. One example of a tune-dependent parameter is the Throttle Boost.rcr211 wrote:OK thanks, that worked like you said, only takes a minute if that to update the tune. i was just mislead, thinking the whole tune process (8 min) would have to happen. not the case. just a couple cycles of the key when promped and voila!

There is no need to make a copy of the factory tune if you are not having a custom tune written. The only time you need to retrieve a copy off the tool to save to a PC is if you are emailing it to a CMR Dealer who has requested it. A saved Original Backup cannot be reloaded to an inTune (or any of our programmers) from a PC to return a vehicle back to stock.Razzaa wrote:Save a copy to your desktop. However, on Chrysler vehicles we can trigger a "Force Calibration Update" to return a vehicle back to 100% stock programming if there was ever a need to. This can be done with a Predator, inTune, or Trinity, and it does not need to be the device that originally tuned the vehicle. This means that you could tune your vehicle with an inTune, then smash it with a hammer, and we could still use another inTune, Trinity, or Predator (2010 and earlier only with a Pred) to trigger a Force Calibration Update and put it back to 100% factory.
