2005 Power Wagon Intune questions

Post by VaderPainter »

I just switched from a SuperChips FlashPaq tuner to a new Diablo Sport InTune on my 2005 Power Wagon. I followed the instructions included and performed the update prior to hooking it up to my truck. I have a 2005 Dodge Power Wagon with a 5.7 Liter Hemi. It has a Expeditioneers Snorkle, BBK 85mm throttle body, and a AIRaid intake. I had the 93 Octane tune installed with the SC tuner and have since installed the 91 Octane DS tune. It seems pretty peppy, I adjusted the throttle sensitivity to 13% and stayed clear of messing with everything else. I am having a idle hunting issue when I first start the vehicle hot or cold. It tends to fluctuate between 300 to 400 rpms for a few minutes then goes away, although not totally. Is there something I can do to correct this? I have been doing some reading in the forums online and found some people complaining of a similar issue and said they were told that it was the throttle sensitivity. Should I set this back to 0%?

I also have read on the Diablo site that the tuner is supposed to have a 93 Octane tune for my truck although I could not find it on the options list when programming my truck. I have read that this tune is the Diablo Tune listed in the tune options? If so, many people with the same truck say this tune does not perform as well as the 91 Octane tune, complaining of less power and a sluggish shift. Can you shed some light on this as well. I would like to get the best performance out of my truck.

One last question. Is there an option to change the shift pattern on the transmission like on the Challenger? I currently own a 2009 Challenger as well that I have tuned with another Diablo Itune. I would like to be able to set the shift pattern to a stiffer setting as well.

Thanks,

Bob

the 93 tune is the diablo tune.
Those who think it performs less than the 91 tune are likely not using good quality 93 octane fuel, and getting knock.

I have not seen any complains of idle surging on stock HEMIs, IMO, that could be related to the snorkel.

Did the tuner give you the option to select TCM tunes?

Well this morning I had no idle hunting issues on my 2005 Power Wagon. Perhaps it takes a few drive cycles? I only drive the truck a few miles each way to my studio each day and have not had the tune in it for more than a few days now. I am going to try the 93 Octane Diablo Tune today and see what happens. If the TCM is the transmission optional settings that should be in the adjustments settings I never saw it. Perhaps this is only available through the Diablo Tune settings. Your thoughts? I'll look again this afternoon when I program the truck to the higher octane setting.

I also set my wife's 2009 R/T Challenger to the 91 Octane setting not knowing that the Diablo Tune was the 93 Octane high performance tune. I will change that today since we have been running high test in it. I have been having an issue with setting a P0507 code every few drive cycles. It has a new 85mm BBK Throttle Body on it along with a Mopar CAI and Corsa Xtreme exhaust. I have performed the throttle relearn a few times after talking to the people at BBK about the issue but it seems to come back on after a few drive cycles. Maybe the 93 Octane Diablo Tune setting will correct this. I also have the throttle sensitivity set to 13% on it as well. Any thoughts about the throttle sensitivity causing this issue as I adjust my tune on it?

Thanks!

that throttle body is likely causing that code...

Yeah that is what I think as well after reading the various Challenger forums. I put the 93 CAI tune in just now and test drove the car and it seems fine to me.

I can't seem to find any information about the Mode 1 and Mode 2 settings under autostick though. Can you tell me the difference between these and what benefits they would have for the Challenger?

And there are also 2 options for the shift speeds, one being 6200 rpms and the other 6400 rpms again cant seem to find any information on these either in my searches. Is this something I should consider messing with or is this for engines that have upgraded cams?

Going to upgrade the tunes for my 2005 Power Wagon now and see how it does.

Thanks again,

Okay I just got back from updating my 2005 Power Wagon to the 93 Octane Diablo Tune. Not only did I not find the TCM option. There is also not an option for a CAI either. Does this sound right?

I had a couple of other issues as well. First, I tried to write it back to the stored stock settings (I read on a forum that stacking tunes was not a good idea so anytime you were going to go to a different tune the vehicle should be written back to stock and started over again. I did this with my Challenger earlier with no issues) I could not get the unit to write it back, it stopped on the tire size rewrite both times I tried it. I had to unplug it to get it to move past this part of the rewrite. Not able to get it to write back to the stock setting I then just over wrote the 91 Octane tune I had already installed to the new 93 Octane tune. It seemed to work fine. However, not being able to set the truck back to the stock setting is going to be an issue if I have to take it to the dealer for a PCM update or if I ever want to return it back to stock. What am I going to need to do to get this corrected?

Second, I found that the touch screen needs to be calibrated as I have to hit below the button to get it to activate. This is pretty hard to do when most of the adjustments require you to press the screen at the very bottom to select the adjustment. I can see a screen in the settings that allows for a calibration but when I click on it the screen goes to another area that brings up a bunch of letter and numbers. If there a certain code to get the screen to calibrate?

Thanks again

trucks dont have CAI tunes, they dont need them like the cars.

Go to options/troubleshooting./show calid while its plugged into the truck and tell me what it says for TCM.

I have the Intune tuner and I don't see a options setting. Only tune vehicle, scan tool and settings. I assume you are talking about settings? There are only 3 options. Intune setup, advanced and tool info. None of which have the options menu you asked me to go to. I am in my truck now if you would like to call and walk me thru what you need.
