U7194 pinging...

Post by radzer0 »

Using the diablo tune with 93oct shell fuel it pings at 4800+rpm in 3rd gear. (not first or 2nd). Anybody else notice this? Or could it be something with the 6.2L in the denalis?

I know people have said shell pings. But thats the best gas i can get down here. There is no BP Mobil or anything like that.

Fuelman and shell is about all we got.

If you are not able to find any different gas, try to add fuel in the fuel parameters, 3rd and 4th between 4k-5k is peak load on the motor and it is most prone to detonate right there so i would try to give it some more fuel to remedy the detonation, try 10% and see what it does.

Wondering this. Do you guys know what gas sams club uses? Because i havent noticed the pinging when i use it. Its just i gotta go about 10 miles to get it (when its $0.30/gal cheaper i go).

But sometimes i just dont feel like it.

you may not HEAR it... but does it show KR in your logs???

seeing as how Sam's Club is owned by Wal-Mart, I'm sure it's not the "best" gas....

IMO either richen your feul in PE settings, fuel enrichment up from 4K-7K, or use the 87 tune and fine tune your fueling/spark on that tune.......if you can't get better gas. i only noticed about 0.15 seconds difference at the track between the two tunes. thats not enough of a difference IMO to risk harming the engine in your vehicle from pinging <detonation>.....

just my 2 cents.

I didnt look lately but yea it always showed it after a few hard runs.

As for the walmart gas. I dont see them using cheap gas. I just see them using whoever gives the best deal.

Was just wondering if somebody ever saw a tanker filling up a sams club station to get an idea

i have read that a bit of water is put in the holding tanks sometimes to get the gas to rise??

dont know if thats true or not? i dont know the density of either?? damned chemistry.

yes, gas and oil float on top of water... that's why when there's a gas/oil slick out in the ocean, you can set that shit on fire and it burns right on top of the water... like you've seen on the news when planes go down, or tankers crash, etc etc... and you can swim underneath it....

ol' chemistry teacher Lew

e=mc2 //// energy is equal to mass times a constant, squared.

i know when my son shits in the tub, it floats! i guess terd density<water density.
