2006 ford f-150 eng. mis
After I add a cold air kit the engine started having a dead mis above 4000 rpm. I can put the stock air box back on the mis stops.I'm running the perf. tune . The cold air kit is a k&n High-flow intake kit.The programer Ver. is V.8r30.

Which tune are you running? What revision is your predator on? Also, what cold air kit is this?

I had the same problem with my 06 Roush Stage1 F150, I think you are getting ready to have some coils go bad! lf the truck is under warranty have them service the Cam Phasers ( controls the timiing of the Cams) and Coils!
Roush only covers up to 36,000 miles. So its out my pocket now, Go have ford Change them Coils and Cam Phasers before the warranty goes out!!!!!!

They have replaced some of the coil pack when I first got the truck. The rest of them must be going out to.

If the Truck is warranted have your Cam Phasers checked, replace the rest of the coils also! 5.4 F150's are having issues with the phasers! Ford needs to due a Recall on them, but they are laying low on this issue since it is a costly repair(1400.00 per side)!!!!

- the Phasers is located in the front of Cam Gears, much like a timing Ring with slots.

If it is Misfiring, Adding more fuel may be a bad thing! The Cylinder may Vapor LOCK if to much fuel enters the Chamber and don't ignite due to a Misfire!

I had the coils replaced . The cam phasers are ok. I even changed out the air flow sensor. Now the engine is even misfiring at the top of second gear and also in drive. The dealer has no clue what to do. I have put the stock program back in and is still misfiring. The truck runs fine in normal driving. Just under wot. is when the problem occurs. The truck is also poping back through the intake.

If my 06 was giving me the problems you are having and I would get rid of it ASAP. I have removed my predator program because it was KILLING my gas mileage.

I know how frustrating this is because Been there done that! I was told the crush bearings was bad and I needed a new motor. I got a bottle of Seaform; run a can in gas tank, in crankcase ( don't over fill ) and run a can threw the main vacuum line at the brake booster! I did these an it runs find sputter once and while but I can handle that until I do a complete build up! If the motor has a ticking( like a Exhaust leak or valve tap) sound, its the cam phasers!

I found out what the problem was. Weak valve springs was causing the valve to float out above 4000 rpm. Ford is working on replacing them and the lifters. They said this should fix the problem. I hope they are right.

Also why I'm thinking about it I up dated my program to the newest ver. When I look at the 93 setting I found that I can no longer change the shift pressure. Is there anything we can do about this. and also noticed a change in the shift point settings. What is the upshift mph?

What's going on? If this solves your problem please let me know! I think the shift pressure is pre-set in the tune; I am getting nice shifts at WOT. I think the upshift mph is when the program changes the shifts at a setting of 1 mph over the programmer shift mph.
in layman terms ( if the pre set is 45 mph, you can up the shift point by MPH in intervals on 1 mph to max per gear shift) i.e.{1-2,2-3,etc.}! Today I had passed a car at WOT, I set mine to +5 on 3-4 range! Got a Speeding ticket for 90mph in a 70mph zone on the Freeway
. What a difference the shifts make, Didn't even know my truck jumped up that fast!

The valve springs did not fix the problem ford is still working on the truck. They have changed out all of the injectors , coils packs twice and the mas air.They also changed out all of the o2 sensors. they have a ford sevice rep looking into the problem now. They have a new computer on the way also. They do not have a clue at this point. As soon as I they find out the problem I will let you know. It looks like this is an on going problem with the 5.4 engine.
