Another question about versions

Post by REDD-MAN »

Can someone explain to me why all versions AFTER 16a do not give me the
performance it does. I've update to each version as it came out but NONE of them ever give me the performance of 16a. I thought it was just me but I have the 0 - 60 numbers to back it up. I updated to 19 but had to go back to 16a as it's night and day difference. I even had one of my buddies who has a Magnum R/T drive under each tune and he was amazed. Unfortunately he had to update his calibrator and now it appears he can't go back. I have an 07 Charger SRT8 and am running the 93CAI Tune.

I've noticed exactly the same thing. I was able to get decent performance out of the later versions, but only after adding fuel and spark. They had the tune right and then messed it up. I think alot of it is due to the fact that the later tunes lean out the mixture, which normal logic says would make more power, but in reality on these motors makes less then a fatter mixture. I didn't believe it, but the dyno doesn't lie.

In case you're wondering, I'm running +5% fuel in all 3 rpm ranges right now to keep R20 decent. I haven't gotten to doing any real tuning yet with this version, but thats were I was running on R18, so I kept it as a baseline. Feels a bit weaker, so once I get into the tuning it'll probably get a bit more fuel and more timing.
