Unable To Modify Tune

Post by Goatluver »

inTune firmware 1r04d

I have been using the inTune for awhile on my '01 TA and recently installed a torque converter into the car. Since I knew that the trans needed tuning that I would need someone with HPTuners since no CMR tuners available in my area. The procedure was use HPT to copy the Diablew tune onto the laptop. Used the inTune to restore back to factory stock and unmarry the device. From there connect HPT and load the Diablew tune that was copied. Once that was done we were able to make the changes to the transmission section in HPT.

Now that I am back to using the inTune I wanted to data log and run DSLogRedux to adjust trims. Connected the inTune and chose to modify stock tune but it returns with, ""PCM has been tuned before by a DiabloSport Product". I did find the thread, http://www.diablosport.com/forum/viewto ... 44&t=44338 and it appears that the inTune doesnt recognize the Diablew tune modified with HPTuners as the factory tune. I let it connect to the net and update but situation still happens.

Now will I need an actual FACTORY stock tune for the inTune to recognize that it can modify factory tune? I was hoping that if the device is unlocked it would just recognize any tune installed, back it up and let me modify regardless if it is a FACTORY tune or not. I know this procedure works on my '05 GTO using the Predator.

Am I SOL with using the inTune without it having a checksum to be sure that it is actually modifying the FACTORY tune?

You'll need to let it save the existing file and post it here so we can get it back to stock then flash it back to the car.

This file is in the inTune/tunes directory. If it is not correct I will try again.

put this on the intune drive and let the tool import it then go to the car and load it and it will be back to stock.

Able to restore back to factory tune and the inTune is now ready to modify stock tune.

Friend stopped by and viewed the stock tune compared to the modified trans tune with HPT and confirmed that they are different. Loaded the modified trans tune then tried to use the inTune again to mod it but back to same results as first post. My goal was to have the inTune see the current modified trans tune (originally the Diablosport canned tune then modded by Lew) as the factory tune but to no avail. So it does appear that the inTune needs to match the factory tune to factory tune even if it is unlocked/unmarried to the car. Interesting since the Predator does not.

So what I think would need to be done is compare both the factory tune you uploaded and the modified trans tune then make changes with HPT in the factory tune, install it and see if the inTune will recognize it as the factory tune. :lamer: :normal:

you need to read your pcm while it is stock, and use that file to base changes on.
when you read our tune out, you read out the marriage byte that tells us we are married to it, then you write that file back to the pcm and it puts that byte back.
if you start with a stock read, then flash that to the pcm it will be fine.

you can use the same file I provided to get it back to stock again if needed.

Hmm, with so many times flashing back and forth I am trying to wrap my mind around this. Sorry to be a pain but just wanted to have the trans adjusted with HPT and go back to using the inTune. I dont want to brick anything so would it be simpler if I give you the current tune that is loaded in the car and change it to a .GRG file? This way I can load it as a custom tune.

thats not an option.

Put everything back to stock.

flash the pcm with hpt with the trans changes, then load the intune.

Unfortunately it did not work. I can unmarry the inTune properly with the file you posted and I am back with the factory tune in the car. Loaded the HPT tune with trans changes, booted the inTune as an unmarried device, chose to Modify Stock Tune and it copied the HPT tune fine as a backup. Try to Modify Stock Tune with inTune but same prompt as before, "PCM has been tuned before by a DiabloSport Product".

Oh well, was worth a shot. Need to keep the HPT trans tune in the car though so no go with the inTune. Thanks for the help.

you are not following my instructions :)

You need to start with a STOCK read to make the HPt file, if you keep loading the same tune that was based on a read that had our marriage byte, you will keep causing this.

If you do it exactly as I described, it will work.
