I would like an answer to the same question also. Does it pay to upgrade my 06 RT or am I looking for trouble? Thanks!

The 06's did not get any calibration updates from r18 to r20, only changes where some wot fuel added to all tunes and increased wot shift firmness in the 05-08 5.7L's.
What did you like better with the r16a vs r18? Could you post your calid as well.

You dont floor the throttle?? Thats what these rides where made for, he he.
Calid is a calibration id for your pcm program.
You can get it if you go to options>>troubleshooting>>show calid

2007 5.7 upgrade from R18 to R20

Post by slack-axe »

I just finished upgrading a 2007 300C 5.7 to R20 (from R18). I followed the website directions to the letter and the upgrade process was flawless.

Yes there is a noticeable difference with R20 -- but it is a very good difference

I was getting some audible pinging at WOT with the R18 93 Octane tune (using Mobil gas), and now the pinging is completely gone with R20 -- so I am now getting a strong and even pull through the entire RPM range.

In my opinion, the shifting in R20 is a thing of beauty. I can catch good rubber on a WOT 1-2 shift almost at will now -- not just a chirp, but a good squawk.....in both Drive and Autostick. It was also nice not to have to set the fan temps!!

Now the wife is demanding me to upgrade her 06 Charger 5.7 from R18 to R20......She allowed my car is never to be quicker than hers. Great job again guys!

Re the different version nos. I am a bit confused here...I have a predator not yet installed-06 charger SRT.
How can one file upgrade a 5.7 and an SRT from the same file for best performance. Both are different engines.
Also how can one version give better performance than a later version per some of the posts I am seeing?
What am I missing here?
