cannot read vehicle type error v6 '05

Post by ceskino »

Hi everybody!

here's my problem..i've got a 2005 v6 mustang, automatic shift, already tuned 1 year ago with the predator; yesterday i decided to change some parameters on the tune i already have installed, like removing the idle limiter and stuff like that..but,when i tried to enter on the "performance tune" menu of the predator,it gives me everytime the "cannot read vehicle type" error. So i disconnected first the negative cable from the battery...tried another time..same error; so i tried disconnecting the negative and positive cables, link them(obviously not when they were linked to the battery),leave them linked for 10 minutes, and then reconnect both to the battery..tried again..same error.

What i have to do to get my predator working?

oh,more info..i can enter in every other menu of the predator, see the errors, clear them..see the live parameter..everything..except use the performance tune option. i linked the predator to the computer, windows 7,downloaded drivers and program..everything ok..i've got my backup of the original tune in the predator, and also i downloaded it from the predator;it still told me that the predator is linked with the vin of my car..it seems everything is all right!
Please,give me some hints.. :(

Show calib id tells "calid 'B'"
Show vin tells "vin hex"

ok, give us a call with the tool powered up in the car and we'll see what we can do.

if it wont talk, the best advice is to get it to a dealer and let them flash it. We can try forcing the stock tune back in the car but that is NOT something we prefer to do on a running vehicle.

Thanks

ok..right..but,all happened after i lend my predator to a pair of friends of mine, and they used it to check the errors on them mustangs...it's possible that they tried to write a tune or something like that, while the predator were still locked to my car,and the predator entered in a something-called as "protection mode"?and it is for that reason i couldn't used it on my car,if it tells that is still locked to it?

However, now i'm located in italy, and used to call the tech support, but it takes me a lot of time with no response, and a lot of money for the call...so,I tryed also to restore the original backup, forcing the process..but it tells me that i need a password..is there a way to send the code from the predator,so you can give me the password to do it?

thanks a lot anyway!
