intune not finding ECU

Post by kevin121987 »

has anyone had an issue with the intune i1000 not talking with the pcm? 04 dodge ram it talked to it fine a few times, have a custom tune loaded. but all of a sudden stopped talking to it. my old super chips flash paq will talk to it, my solus scanner will talk to it, bully dog talks to it. only the intune no longer talks to it. checked ports from obd2 connector to the pcm all ohmed good.

is there anyone that has any ideas????????

update on the issue.

after many many weeks of calling and talking to every single tech. after sending the unit in twice for resetting and checking. after being told it is not the intune but has to be my truck. I found 3 people with an inune. they let me try theirs on my truck. All three worked fine. read the vin. checked codes everything. So one of the guys that was fixing to put his up for sale decided to check and see if mine would read on his 05 dodge ram. mine is an 04. it read his. so he cleared his and rest.. mine was already reset from guys at diablo.. so now I am tuning again with the other intune.

I told you that it was not my truck. I spent many hours every week checking and rechecking. if you guys run in this issue again you might want to at least try and swap an intune to see. because there is definitely something wrong with my old intune on the 04 truck.

yes as I stated when I called you and talked to all you guys. it worked on 01 chevy. 02 chevy. worked on 05 dodge ram as far as talking to the pcm. when I found another 04 dodge ram 5.7 hemi... I did NOT work on his. every single thing I plugged into my truck worked. I have a solus scanner.. works fine. I have a super chips flash paq that was on my truck before I did the intune with cam, and it read it fine. a friends bully dog read it. a friends shop scanner read it. I checked every single port from the obd2 connector to the computer and all ohmed right. I asked and asked for you guys to let me send mine back to you and do a swap but you would not allow it because you said it checked out fine in your lab.

but when I finally got ahold of some people at a car show with intunes... 4 people to be exact. All of theirs worked on my truck. only MINE did not work.
I spent over two months calling and callng and asking for something and got the same thing. oh its just your truck.

at the car show this one guy had a sign saying intune for sale. he was selling his truck and getting a new truck. so he put his back to stock. after talking with him and telling him all the grief I was put through on this.. he said lets try his. it worked perfectly.. I plugged mine into his.. it worked.. so we swapped. he is selling mine and will tell whoever buys it that as long as it is NOT an 04 it will work. I have reloaded all my custom tunes from my compter to the intune and doing all the adjustments with no issues.

I was very impressed with the initial help from all you guys on tuning help and such. but once you guys made up your mind that your intune could not have any issues you all stopped helping me. that is one very disappointing issue. if mine did this.. then it can happen again to someone else. you might listen to your customers a tad more.. sometimes things happen with electronics that are just confusing.

Garrett even told me well I guess you need to buy another intune and just maybe sell yours. wow... really... mine under warranty and that was the suggestion? but now I am tuning again so I don't care what happens to my old one.

Really? I wouldn't have taken that shit. I'd have been at their front door with the truck and the inTune and demanded that they make it work. Thats an inexcusable thing to tell a customer. Its under warranty, replace the freaking thing and try a different one !

well when you in Texas, and they are in Florida, they kind of know your not going to take a stroll down to see them. Like I said, I was impressed with them in the beginning.. but after all the headache and such after it stopped working.. I was so fed up I would fume every time I saw a diablo logo. lol I contacted a couple places that is an authorized dealer for them that was only an hour to hour and half away from me, to see if they would let me just plug one off the shelf onto my truck if I drove there, and they said no. which I guess I can understand their point, but for Diablo to not work with me more than they did. wow...

I am just glad I don't need anything else.. lol

I have had your tool here 2x, tested in a half dozen different vehicles, including an 04 ram setup on the bench, and it worked, perfectly, everytime.
Please dont make it out like we would not work with you.

We cant just replace tools that are not exhibiting any issues in any of our testing Mike. This particular tool has worked in any and everything it was tested on, except his 04 ram. Its unfortunate, but unless I can get the truck here to see it not work, the tool is fine from where we sit. We tested it under warranty on 2 different occasions. If it had so much as winked at me, i would have replaced it, but it was perfect.

Something clearly wasn't right with it if it wouldn't work on his truck but other ones do. If everything else can talk to the truck, including other inTunes, you can't blame the truck.

As of the time it was here, there was not confirmation that another intune had worked.

mike, that is not entirely correct.

I had talked to Garrett many times. the first time your right it just sounded like my intune was messed up and you guys jumped on it and tested it. the second I got it out of the box I tried it and called. walked through all the test on phone with your techs. nothing. so even then.. I was like ok your right must me my truck. the biggest thing was EVERYTHING else worked on my TRuck EVERY single tuner,, everysingle scanner. Just my intune. that is what didn't make sense. but I still was like ok help me then. tell me what port your intune uses to contact the pcm. because if it uses another port other than all the other tuners and scanners then I have something I can work with. Garrett said he would talk with the engineers and find out and then email me. no email came. called back two days later.. then once every week for a month. going over the same thing every single time. all I was asking for was what port did it use. I ohmed all ports from connector to PCM all were good. I was working with you guys like crazy thinking ok it must me a glinch in my truck.

but the day I got other intunes on my truck and they talked to it.. and mine talked to there truck I called back. got Garrett again.. he said with him not being there he can confirm my story. he said I need to get them again and call them back with them hooked up to it. I had been looking online.. called authorized dealers and tried for weeks to find another intune to try. its not like every person on each corner has an intune. at least in my area.
and no dealer would take new one out of box and let me try. (which I guess I can understand that part on them)

the final straw was when I got these other people to plug and try.. well of course its a weekend that is when a car show is .... a weekend. and of course your not open on the weekend.

so the guy saved me by just letting me dump mine on him to sell and me use his..

you all worked with me fine until you just totally had to believe it was my truck. heck I even bought a new computer had it flashed to my truck and put it on to try. still nothing. I did everything .. I did stuff that most people would not know how to do to troubleshoot the issue.

it all pointed to the intune.

All I am saying is with all the contact of back and forth and nothing was getting figured out.. at that point I would think that a swap out would been warranted. if nothing else but to prove the tune. it tested fine on your table.. but in the field would not work on my truck or on another 04 dodge ram hemi I tried. if the one you sent didn't work either, then we swap back. and then I dig more and more.. but at this point there was no more digging to do. I had already proved other ones working on it. just not mine.

you would have had my tune.. I would have yours. so you would not be in a loss on that part. I offered to send it in and wait until got it, and you send me one.

what I liked the most was the sigh I would get when a tech would recognize it was me calling.. lol trust me.. the sigh feeling was both ways.. lol I hated calling you as much as you all hated hearing from me.

the thing is.. sometimes things just don't make sense. and every effort should be made to figure it out.. for the customer sake.. and the sake of potential customers.. and for the sake your company figuring out issues with a tuner.

but for a tech to say well since others worked.. all I can suggest is buy a used one online get it unmarried and go with that.. which I ended up doing, without the having to buy someone elses. the guy did me a huge major faovor

I just hope my old intune stays working on another truck like it did on his 05. cause if it doesn't.. and he has to call you guys.. boy... do I know what he will be feeling.
