Diablew custom tune preferred for 2014 Silverado?

Post by bschnorf »

im just wondering which tune would be best suited to have lew start working his magic on? I have a 2014 Silverado 5.3 and only mod is k&n63 series air intake. I have tried both the 87 and Diablo canned tunes and the 87 tune doesn't do it for me . The Diablo on the other hand is a huge difference and I really like it , is there going to be a huge difference between having them customized or will lew get them pretty much the same except for the type of gas that has to be used? And does he play with the timing at all or just leave the timing where the preset tune has it?

I've already answered these in the many emails we've exchanged.. haha..

the custom tune for 87 octane, will be better than the preset canned 87 octane tune.. timing is not changed, the 87 tune uses original stock timing settings... and I do not change the part-throttle timing at all for 87 octane either.. stock original settings are used... the only timing changes I may make are for WOT if needed... to reduce or eliminate any knock retard you may have... and would also adjust WOT fueling as well...

the custom tune for 91+ octane will be better than the preset canned Diablo Tune (that's the 91 octane tune)... the Diablo Tune sets the timing higher, for the higher octane gas... the only timing changes I make are for WOT if needed... I would lower it in certain areas to reduce or eliminate any knock retard you may have... and would also adjust WOT fueling as well...

the only difference between a custom tune for 87 octane, and a custom tune for 91 octane, is the timing, that's it.. everything else - all other changes done, are exactly the same between both tunes... the timing is set higher in the 91 octane tune compared to stock timing settings for 87 octane tune...

I change a lot of things man... a small sample of just SOME of the things are: disable the DOD/AFM, disable torque management, adjust part-throttle fueling/timing, WOT fueling/timing, knock retard settings, throttle settings, tranny torque, tranny torque management, tranny shifting settings (pressure/firmness, shift points, quickness), etc...

Damn it Lew!! Haha I know I know I'm looking into it too much , I'm just wondering what other people are choosing with the new Silverado's. I would love to hear from people that have had a custom tune from each of the canned tunes to help me make this to me make this very tough decision , well for me at least , I'm keeping this truck till the wheels fall off , I just want to make sure the drivetrain doesn't fall off before the wheels HAHA , Thanks Lew!!!

go over to http://www.silveradosierra.com/engine/d ... 35770.html

I've tuned thousands of these trucks, hundreds of 2014's specifically, for a LOT of people.. no issues with the tunes bud, you're not going to damage anything haha..

but check out the silveradosierra.com forum and ask around over there.. will get more answers, quicker, than you will here, since most of the truck guys hang out on that forum...
