2004.5 5.9 HO

Post by Ill_Born_SS »

Hey guys, Having some surging and delayed to idle problems as well as a seriously ruff high idle with the economy tune installed. Yes it is up to date. Tried to restore the original via the troubleshooting menu and tried all the other tunes with the same results.
Tried to go into the QA menu and disable the cold start and then later re-activate it again also no change in symptoms.
I have read thru all the forum posts and found the exact same symptoms many times (Trinity and Predator) Mike asked for logs but I did not see that any were posted. So my son made a log using the DCX layout on the Trinity but it is very basic 6 PIDs.
The truck is in Regina,SK and I am in Ontario Canada, where the truck is at the moment there is no windows computer to download the last tune written or the original backup (working on finding a way at the moment) The calID is 20325253AL if it is any help.
I realize that I need to post up the files but until then can DiabloSport send me a layout or list the PIDs that you would require in assisting with troubleshooting.
Only one thing to say about my "Diablew" Tune!

Unfortunately there is no custom tuning option for the Cummins stuff, so we cant do anything with the files.

I have seen this issue reported in cold climates, it only surfaces around this time of year. The best resolution I have heard is to use the idle up feature to smooth the idle out.

Thanks for the reply Mikel, this does not happen with the stock tune installed. Just to show you, attached is a log with the 100hp tune installed (Please take a look at it) and not using idle up auto or manual mode. When either idle up feature is used it becomes a wicked paint shaker!

Yeah, its related to the added pressure in the tunes, unfortunately we have never experienced weather cool enough to replicate it and try to resolve it in the tunes.

So is there anything I can do to assist?
As you can see in the log even warmed up to temp the ambient air fluctuates as well as the load, not to mention the throttle position will be at 4.8 for example at a stop sign and applying fuel/ pedal it goes to 0 before advancing as it should. It does not do any of this with the stock tune!

Yeah, there is no custom tuning for cummins so it may not be able to export the file at all.
